I understand it is a punishment that is pretty well spelled out in collective bargaining (making Bell stupid), but I still think it is horrible that Bell gets three games for hurting no one (this time) but Rice gets two games for punching out a woman on video that he "loves." Something is not right about that and no I don't smoke anything! I am still upset that Ben got six games originally and was never charged. (Has any other player had a punishment like in the NFL without being convicted of a crime Why is that??) Whatever happened to the Ravens getting punished for lying about the Rice video? (Ozzie, VP, owner, etc.) How about that idiot WR Josh Gordon for the Browns suspended a year having it reduced to 8 games (I think) after a prior earlier offense and then gets an additional DWI and received no additional punishment? Then does it again this year and still feels he is being unfairly punished? It always does seem we get hit harder than anyone else. Three games first offense for anything??? Josh Gordon 8 games (originally), Rice 2 games (originally), Ravens (three comp draft picks, no punishment for blatant lying), etc. I am just saying...

Rice was only suspended for 2 games, but it ended his career. I would say that is a pretty significant punishment. Gordon was suspended for 2 games for his first offense, a year for his second which was reduced to 10, and a year for the 3rd. These aren't minor penalizes by any stretch of the imagination. Y'all seem to forget Goodell was hired by the owners to reign in the players. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Bell knew the rules and made the conscious decision to disregard them. Steelers fans need to stop playing the victim.

I don't want to sound like a whiner but it does seem that Steeler players get a slightly heavier hammer from the Gooddell suspensions and fines. Look at Harrison and Clark clean no penalty hits that were fined. I'm not talking the head to head shots but there were at least 2 very clean hits that were even argued by NFL talking heads of why they were fines. Just seems Gooddell has something against the Steeler's in general all the while Belicheat and Tom "Deflategate" Brady just wistle and walk right by.

I'm surprised Skippy didn't get fined and suspended for beating up the Sheetz towel dispenser.

There is a very good chance Ray Rice will play in the NFL again. He wasn't banned for life as far as I know.

Gee, anyone think the Rooney`s saw this coming, whn they signed D`Angelo ?

I tried real hard to stay out of this altogether, but I can`t, so I will try to keep this short...

    Yes. Bell screwed up...

Yes, he deserves to be punished...

Is 3 games plus a check, excessive?

I think so... But it should teach him a lesson that he is still young enuff to learn.

Would he have been in this situation, if Blount wasn`t on our team?

Probably not, but he is old enough to know right from wrong, and needs to "man up", to his mistakes, not blame others for them.

Should the Steelers have thought more about hiring Blount?

    I dunno....

Seemed like a good signing to me. I wasn`t aware of previous red flags, regarding his conduct. Maybe they should have been. ( I`m kinda sour on how he left and went to the Pat`s, but that`s hindsight.)...

I thought about Ben`s prior situatuion, and didn`t want to bring it up, but since it has been...

I can see why Steeler Fans feel like there is a vendetta against them.

I still don`t think it`s fair that he got suspended at all, in the land of the free, and the home of the brave, where you are presumed innocent, until proven guilty, but he took some major damage based on ACCUSATIONS, not proof of any wrongdoing...

At the same time, where there`s smoke there`s fire...

He could have done things differentley, to not put himself in situations to be accused of inappropriate behavior...

As is, his suspension got reduced...
Hopefully, Bell`s will be also, once the lawyers, agents, etc, have their say.

The difference would be, that Bell, DID do the crime... undeniably...

I believe he will learn from it... he doesn`t seem like an idiot...

all he has to do is look around at how the League is handling things nowadays..And what the Rooney`s expect from their players...(Here is where he can learn from what happend with Ben...)

He doesn`t seem like a stupid young man, or a troublemaker...

He just needs to learn from this...
And help us get to Trophy #7!!!!

    GO STEELERS!!!

Dante Stallworth killed somebody and was allowed to play in the NFL again after serving out his penalty.

Ray Rice never spent a full day in jail for a physical domestic violence incident. Yea, I think he's coming back very soon.

Because teams are beating on his agents door vying to sign him.

This time of year not many teams are beating down any agents doors. During preseason when injuries happen then the phones really start ringing. I can easily see Belichick giving him a second chance. He likes to take on those projects and is known to change RB's on a whim.

Uh familiarize yourself with the rules. The incident happened in the preseason before this new rule was put in effect. So, how does that wash? And besides, roger baddell(there is nothing good about him)...still haven't paid for his dishonor of the shield. Oh thats right...his own rules don't apply to him

If a player had an outstanding DUI, he had until November to get it resolved for it to fall under the old policy.

Defva I wasn't trying to be offensive to any one just that every one who seemed upset about the suspension seemed to be comparing Blount's penalty to Bell's. As TTF said Bell did get a game suspension the same as Blount for violating the leagues substance abuse policy plus added games for the DUI. There has always been inconsistency in doling out fines and suspensions. Pat and Kevin Williams got 4 GM's each for taking a supplement that had a banned subtance in it. Ecause they couldn't get a year or nea on it meanwhile guys who failed tests for pot get one game. It's just so unpredictable.

It needs to read clearly across the board. If you are convicted of being an idiot in any fashion then vaminos! Yeah the league would lose some gems, but it would gain in credible morale. And not just the NFL, all sports leagues.

You ou had a ch acne to be a millionaire for playing a game and **** the bed. Good luck in life!

as it is, we compare and make excuses etc... For our team vs another team and how the asshat commish handles these cases. We all know we couldn't get away with crap in the real world, and in the real world we all more then likely go jobless after our stint in jail. It's ridiculous I'm over it. The fact that these guys have a union to represent them in their stupidity is really hard to believe... All about the buck!

It's not conspiracy theory. Its truth. Just look back through the fines that steeler players have received compared to others. I am by no means saying bell didnt deserve this. I feel three games is right for him. But there has to be some consitancy from the NFL on these issues.
And how dare you compare me / us Steeler fans to those other guys! LoL

For all those on here that are saying this is a fair punishment, and Goodell doesnt have a problem with the Steelers,... When JH got fined 100.000$ was that a fair punishment also? Or are you just picking and choosing whats fair now?
