zumwalt, jj, hojo, garvin, lemon, nix and possibly a draft pick. Harrison, worilds, moats. Timmons, spence, Williams, shazier.

that's a lot of guys, to keep a guy that has maybe one year left. worilds is the elephant in the room. we can't hide them all, nor can we use them all and how will our young guys get experience if these others are on the field?

there are a lot of questions to answer with this many bodies and only so many spots. I love james, but which ones do we let go to make room for him? or do we make room for him? then we are back in the same boat next year. do we chance losing a few possibly good future players? tough decisions coming.

worilds will be gone , start jj on the left harrison on the right with hojo and moats backup.. if we find a draft pick good enough to play keep hojo as a special teamer

I generally agree with this, with an emphasis on drafting a future starting OLB high in the draft. If Hojo shows additional promise next year, I dump Garvin and use Hojo in Garvin's old ST/9th LB spot. I've seen enough of Garvin's weak LB play to be very sure that he's not going to break through and be anything other than a decent special teamer. Time to groom another potential LB in that roster spot.

I don't expect Worilds to return, some team will overpay for him. There are so many other holes on Defense, I hope they don't draft an OLB in the first round. Keep Harrison for one more year.

Huge difference. Standing is much, much harder. I could only do 225 once while standing, but could rep out 8 seated. Not even in the same ball park.

Standing is much harder because of the balance that is needed and also not being able to use your legs as a base. The stabilizer muscles and balancing of that weight on such a long bar is pretty crazy. He's a beast no doubt....

Ridiculous isn't it? James and Brett really inspired the D with their play this year... I know nothing lasts forever, but if he and or Brett have another one in them then really it's a no BRAINER supposing the money is right.

agreed dob. keisel was playing some good ball when he got hurt. james was steady eddie. kruger reminds me a lot of keisel. I think he may have a place on this team before it's all said and done. I'm not to sure he couldn't stand up and give us some pass rush similar to early career brett. somebody to keep an eye on in camp.

I'm not sure what you mean. He will be 37 years old next season. He hasn't topped 6 sacks in a season in 3 years, and he has missed multiple games in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Everyone gets old. Some fans just haven't come to grips with that fact yet.

harrison 2015 :5.5 sacks and 22 quarterback hurries in just 11 games (four starts).

find me one better and we can leave james at home otherwise sign him again

What's also missing here is how good Harrison plays against the run. Beside sacks and hurries he is far and above all other OLB on this team and, including Worilds and JJ.

You might have a point if it would take a multi year deal averaging north of 2 or 3 million dollars/ year to sign him. It won't. He'll come cheap and his salary will reflect your performance numbers making him worth every penny as a leader and role player on defense. Even at 37 years old.

The hardest part of that standing press is that he's using a long bar. That takes tremendous strength to keep that thing balanced with one arm on top of it being 135 lbs!

Love all the guys, but out of the four (Polamalu, Keisel, Taylor, and Harrison), the only one I'm bringing back would be JH92. And that would only be if things go terribly wrong in free agency and the draft. If Worilds and Moats sign elsewhere and a starter at OLB is not brought in from FA, then yes bring him back. This is an unlikely scenario, I would think the FO would sign someone to come in as the starter. This is why re-signing Moats is a priority imo. Not the big bucks Worilds will want but a fail-safe in case they are outbid for other starters. Then pray they get a good OLB prospect in the draft.

But it's all downside in front of him. Even sustaining last year's level of performance is highly unlikely. If it wasn't for his name, we wouldn't even consider bringing him back.

Why will teams line up to pay an OLB who only had 7.5 sacks? Those aren't big $ stats. I would much rather go with what we have left, add one mid-level free agent and draft an OLB as well and take our chances that we will be better off going that direction. In the draft, I'd look towards...I would like Orchid in the 2nd.

Then in free agency look towards....

    1. Sean Weatherspoon
    2. Malcolm Smith
    3. Lance Briggs
    4. Justin Durant
    5. Jonathan Casillas
    6. Bruce Carter

    8. Spencer Paysinger

    9. Keith Rivers
    10. Ashlee Palmer
    11. J.T. Thomas
    12. Geno Hayes
    13. Ramon Humber

It's all downside for most of us as we get older.....at the same time he still happens to be "better than what we got". Bens window is closing too so we need to put all our chips on the table. If you didn't happen to notice the difference he made on our D once he came back, I don't know what to tell you and I won't be able to convince you.
