He deserves to be back and he will stay in shape this time and be ready to go. He put it on tape this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get other offers. Of course we will probably drag our feet and lose out this time. I would let Worilds walk if he wants too much. Re sign Moats also. I'm also pretty sure James would fair really well on the left side too. He can be used on both sides as part of a rotation. Harrison,JJ,Moats,HoJo and a FA or draft pick or both should be a nice mix.

I look for him to retire since DL is no longer here.. I don't think he will go to Tenn as some has speculated. the only reason he played lst year is because his family wanted to play for the Steelers and no one else. .... But who really kno's what he will do..

Same here. He's one of those rare freaks of nature that could be pushing 40 and still be effective in the NFL.

From what I saw last year, if he wants to play, they'd be foolish not to bring him back.

I agree they should be making him offers right now. He played above the line that's for sure .

Count me in hopefully seeing him level a few QB's for the Black&Gold.

Agreed. He's a ton better than JJ t this point and it's disappointing to have to say that.

I could usually do around 10 reps of 135, standing presses.....................with BOTH arms. I'd sign him; if father time catches up with him in preseason, then cut him if he isn't one of the best OLB we got. But, as most of us know, he will likely be our best OLB when the time comes.

I wonder if Harrison could press JJ over his head with one arm?

And yes, they'd be foolish not to bring him back.

    Crossfitter?
Most people do presses seated. Crossfitters usually do them standing.

I know a really crazy woman that does crossfit. I also know a hardcore juicer that DESPISES crossfit. Which one is right? The crazy or the juicer? LOL.

LOL Crossfit is a really polarizing topic for sure.

If by really crazy you mean Crossfit consumes her life and she posts 24/7 about it on Facebook, then they're both wrong.

Crossfit is great if you're not really concerned with competing in anything other than Crossfit. Other than that, it's a good way to consistently exercise and get into really good shape, which is probably 80% of the people that you see working out at your local big box gym. But specificity is king if you want to maximize your performance in a certain sport or competition which is probably why your juicer friend despises it. That and sometimes CF'ers tend to be a little overzealous in their love for CF which can rub people the wrong way. He probably has very little use for it.

Personally I really like to run. In the spring/summer/fall months theres a group of us who enter as many 5Ks, 10Ks, and OCRs etc as possible, so a lot of my time training is spent running with a reduced focus on lifting and CF or HIIT training. No one gives a rats ass if I can do a handstand pushup or a sub 5 minute Fran time if I can only run a 5K in 25 minutes. In the winter months I transition to a little running with a lot of weight training and CF and/or HIIT stuff to keep strong and maintain a decent cardio base.

James is old, over the hill and should not take a space from a young up and coming player.

Wait, I said that last year. And I was wrong.

Yeah that girl does that all the time on fb but ironically he posts pics of himself all juiced up in the gym. He says the reason he hates crossfit is because they use "poor form" in their workouts. She said she used to be really strung out on pills and I thought crossfit might be like a recovery or rehab type thing for her. I had never even heard of it until she kept talking about it and I thought it was some religious program because of the name. I'll tell you something hilarious about the two though. One day at work they were having a heated debate about this and she said she could do more pull ups than him and there are these big metal beams that hold up conveyor belts. So she told him a crossfit pull up was better than the way he does them and she jumped up on this beam to show her awesomeness and dude she buster her butt HARD. Her hands slipped and she fell flat on her butt on concrete and that guy just killed himself laughing. LOL!

So your two friends work together? Ok, now I know why he hates it. Especially after the pull up story. I really don't have a lot negative to say about CF except for those pull ups. I don't know if you've ever seen a Crossfit pull up, but think of a fish out of water with a defibrillator hooked up to its chest while being cattle prodded. :lolol: Look it up on YouTube. As far as it being better than a regular pull up? LOL, I guess if you're doing them in a Crossfit competition it is, but otherwise....no. And thats probably what he's talking about when he's criticizing their form. I do think the whole CF poor form thing is a bit overblown though. I've seen some horrendous train wrecks at regular gyms too.

Its funny that you talk about her being all strung out and CF being her recovery. One of the biggest CF posters to my FB newsfeed is a recovering alcoholic who cleaned up her act after joining Crossfit. She even posted tonight that some CF publication is doing a piece on her and her recovery. So I guess thats a good thing.

IMO the best thing about the whole Crossfit thing is the community. It's not so much the work or the exercises that you are doing, but doing it repeatedly and making a long term habit of it is what gets the results. And belonging to a tight knit group like that gives you great support and keeps you coming back. If you're the type of person who needs that, then you will excel there.

If Silverback wants to play, I hope the Steelers
work out something with him. I was mad as hell when they couldn't come to an agreement a couple years back. This man takes care of his body and I believe can contribute to this team this year.

Bring him back. He can get to the QB off the edge, and we're lacking guys who can do that consistently. It's no coincidence that our defense improved when he arrived and got into game shape.

on the crossfit side discussion- I looked into it a couple of years ago when I hit a workout plateau, and was shocked at how dangerous some of the exercises looked. I have a tendency to get sports injuries if my form isn't very good, and I just said "heck no" and walked away. I'm sure it's great for some folks, but I would be on ice for a week after one workout.

Last year he was their best outside linbacker. If he wants to play sign him up again. It's a no brainer.
