I was thinking the same thing. That could get them started and work towards getting more pieces to the puzzle as time goes by.

I don't understand the logic of replacing LeBeau with Butler. That would be a "WTF???" move.

Yeah that's what I was meaning when I said if the standard is really the standard then Butler will have a lot to prove.

Somehow I get the sense that LeBeau did this on his own out of frustration. He was trying to field a defense with one hand tied behind his back and then was getting the blame. Who knows. I think the defense's ills were a combination of both: the drop off in talent AND Lebeau's lack of ingenuity or adjust to the players he had.

DL is the best ever 3-4 D coach. He has over 50 years under his belt in the NFL. I see MT wanting to go to a 4-3.So he has no need for DL. I believe MT wanted a 4-3 from day one. However the Rooneys liked what DL was doing. Over rode MT the first few years. Now with DL not having the talent to play his D the last few years Mgt is willing to let DL be the scape goat.

Coach Butler has been here a long time and deserves a chance with this D. But not at the expense of DL.

I was afraid it would end this way and I commented a few days ago that I didn't think DL would leave voluntarily. I don't think he understands the concept of retirement. Hate that he was forced out, but I saw it coming.

So the meeting went like this: Tomlin walks in and sets down in front of Rooney and Cobert. He then says "well I was torn on this but a tsf.com poll said DL should go". They were like "well there you have it". LOL!

When you get ribbed and made fun of as much as I do, you have to have a sense of humor, TTF. :-D

Of course, I've been known to dish it out too so it helps if you also learn to take it, lol.

But I think I said DL will quit under two circumstances only:
    1) nobody will hire him
    2) playbook pried from cold, dead hands
    :)

It was time...Thanks Coach LeBeau for everything you brought to the Steelers. But your complicated scheme and holding on to vets to long, stunting the growth of the young gun days are over. Time for a fresh approach.

Actually it's hEyward. LOL! He started showing life at the end of last year and I think led in sacks this year. Still not enough though but I don't know if that's on DL.
