Do we get to keep Munchak and/or Haley or do we lose them to other teams. Are we at 6 or 7 head coaching vacancies now? If so, which one are you wanting to stay?

I say we keep them both and I hope we do. I would take Haley over Munch if a gun was put to my head but I'm still extremely glad we have Munch. They are both doing great jobs.

I know Haley has been here longer, but is he still under contract for at least one more year?

That I don't know. I always just let our resident number crunchers sort that stuff out. LOL.

Not a chance. I don't want to start over at the OC position but you'll have an easier time replacing Haley then you will Munch.

It's moot though, neither of their names have been mentioned as possible HC candidates, last I heard anyway.

If we had to lose one, bye Haley.

They may get offers but like DL they may have found that while the money is nice the headaches are a pain. Add to that any coaching vacancy are on teams that aren't nearly ready to compete and maybe years or decades from being winning programs. Not everyone is Mike Tomlin. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say Haley might because he may still feel like he didn't get a fair shot in KC and may want to exercise those demons.

You might be right thorn. Plus Haley has the bigger ego of the two.

Back when he was hired, I remember reading that it was going to be a 3 year contract. If that's the case, I'd imagine they extend him this offseason if they haven't already worked something out.

As an aside, it will be interesting to see how Haley has the offense prepared for tomorrow's game without Bell.

I agree. I'm intrigued to see how our playbook looks without him. You think they will have some packages for Archer?

Only if they put him out in space. He'll get killed going between the tackles.

They say winning solves everything and it may be the case here too. As I understand it, other teams cannot interview coaches from teams who are still playing and I'd guess a lot of the coaching vacancies will be filled before the 'Big Game' is played in Feb.

They can interview coaches from playoff teams. It happens all the time.

It just amazes me at how little respect some want to give Haley even after the historic offensive performance of the team this year. I know, I know, Joe Walton could have done the same thing with this group of incredible offensive weapons.

If you figure it out Jack let me know how in three years we went from not caring when PWP talked about who was better at blitz pickup Dywer or Redman becuase niether one could take it to the house on every play like Mendenhall to blitz pick up being the most important factor when talking about Archer, Harris or Tate. It's like the freaking Twilight ZOne in here lately.

Don't think the line has anything to do with how well the offense is playing?

Ok, how about this, since you think everyone just has it out for Haley. If BA was the OC, I'd pack his bags to keep Munch.

Munch is a huge reason for things coming together. Think it's a coincidence that this is the longest the line has been healthy? It's not just that they are run blocking better and pass blocking better, they also learned how to protect themselves better.

Sorry, but you'll find another OC that can do a good job before you find someone that can replace Munch, how long has it been since they've been trying? Long time.

Some people have hated the signing since day 1 and would rather see him out the door than admit that a 2nd ranked offense has anything to do with his creativity and playcalling. Some even believe that BA is still better and should return. Go figure.

What does the offensive COORDINATOR do, Blast? Munch is a great OL coach, no question about that, but you don't think Haley has a hand in designing the blocking schemes in both the running and passing game. He is the designer, the architect. He's the guy that devises the gameplan and develops the strategies from week to week that have lead to success this year. He's done an outstanding job of making adjustments that have directly led to victory. Remember the last game against the Rats? The halftime adjustments Haley made were brilliant and allowed us to pull away for a decisive victory.

He and Munch working together make a heckuva team. And no, HECK NO, BA would not have had the same kind of success with this offense that Haley had!

I think you overplayed your hand there Jack, it is a beautiful thought but then what accounts for the previous two years? Kugler and Guy who wasn't here long enough to remember his name, weren't able to mold them into Haley's cohesive vision? It took three years for Haley to decide what he liked and didn't like? It is a beautiful thing to see though.

Overplayed my hand? Didn't realize we were playing poker. Injuries have decimated our line the previous couple of years and that as much as anything has led to abysmal performance. The line has been healthy this year and that, coupled with strong coaching, has given us a measure of success. The OL is the key to effective offensive performance and the fact that ours has been healthy and well coached this year has allowed Haley's schemes to flourish.

Yeah as long as they are on a bye. That's why Adam Gase, the OC in Denver, is being interviewed by the 9ers I believe. His team is off so he can do an interview but I think if they're playing they can't right?
