I'll bet that it's more likely that Goodell turns that play into Unsportsmanlike conduct in the interest of player safety.

If there's a chance to get the ball back, and it's a legal play, then I have no problem with it. How likely is Mitchell to cause a fumble like that? I guess maybe if he timed if perfectly...

I still don't like the kneel down.

I have to ask how many times there have been fumbles between a Center and QB on non Kneel down plays and will then say there is a chance that it will happen in the NFL on a kneel down if the QB is becoming distracted eventually. I don't find it bush league at all.

If the toe sucker, National T.V. (F bomb) dropper calls it bush league then it makes me for it that much more. I'll lend him my TT to bawl in.:cray:

And yet, Here's a thought. If the hypothetical above did happen and the Steelers won, we'd have everyone here calling it awesome and MT probably both giving and taking credit for the awesomeness.

    Good points.

It's almost like they're saying, "You shouldn't disrupt us bowing out with this win." :lolol:

I didn't even know Mitchell's play was bad etiquette until everybody started saying it. :lolol:

It absolutely is bad etiquette. There's a reason no team does it, well aside from the highly thought of Greg Schiano.

I'm pretty surprised this discussion has gone as long as it has.

Is this due to the low probability of success as measured against the possibility for injury?

Is it based on an understanding that the game has been lost to strategy and the kneel-down?

Does it make any difference if there's a chance the defense can get the ball?

Yeah doesn't it rank right up there with barreling into the OL when they are spiking the ball?

Never been a fan of Schiano, but, I stand by my point...

    YOU DON`T GIVE UP!!!

    "ETIQUITTE"... "REALLY?!?!"...

We ain`t drinkin tea, and eating crumpets!

We are trying to win football games!!!

Yes, we never should have gotten to that point in the game, but, at least ONE player TRIED to do something about it!

    I give him props!
And yes, I`m used to having an "unpopular" point of view.

    I stand by it!

Apparently not when Troy does it.

I don't care about ridiculous. If it's legal, it's legal. It is NEVER bush league to try to win a game. It is bush league to roll over and play dead while there's still a chance to win. I don't give a crap about odds, infrequency, or Halley's Comet ... I want the guy that wants to win. You can have the bush league head coach that approved the effort and then threw his guy under the bus for doing it.

Troy never jumped a pile during a victory formation. I guess no one wants to win in this league except Mitchel and the classy Schiano.

Could have just been a misunderstanding between the two. Mitchel has proved to be nothing but a hot headed punk who has hurt the team more than he has helped. I'll believe Tomlin.

Not fined ... Mike Mitchell for a perfectly legal play.

Meanwhile Jason Babin gets away with murder, and all Mike Tomlin has to say is "Don't snitch!"

I've been reading the debate on this and finally decided to chime in. I can understand both sides but this is how I feel about it. If the team in the victory formation is up by more than one score then maybe you just call it a day. The Jets were up by one score! I'm not going to trash Mitchell for playing to the final whistle. I'm kind of glad that he's got enough passion and pride that he doesn't want to give up and he wants to try to make a miraculous play to secure the win for our beloved Black and Gold! I'm sorry, but I can't criticize the guy for that. As a fan, I appreciate that and I'm glad he tried to make a play! Call it bush league if you want but at least Mitchell cares deeply about winning a football game! And I'm with BFT, IF Mitchell had knocked the ball loose and Brice McCain had scooped it up and ran it in for a touchdown, he would have been the "bush league hero"! What do you think Joe Greene would have done in those victory formations? I think he would have tried to knock his guy through the quarterback. JMHOFWIW.

Actually Jack I kinda believe the same. One score you take a shot. If he had caused a fumble and Ben hits Bryant again. We're all saying how great a play Mitchel made. If it is more that 8 points at that point then you don't do it
