Why is it teams have drama pop up the week the Steelers or another Pittsburgh team has to play them?

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/sto...e-fire-john-idzik-sign-flies-new-york-jets-hq

The Rice crap right before the first Baltimore game they used as motivation, now this prior to playing the 1-8 Jets?

Last year it was the Penguins blowing a 3-1 lead to the Rangers after Martin St. Louis, a guy who'd just been booed by his own fans, has his mother die mid-series (not saying it isn't sad) and they rally around him and come back. (as soon as I read the story I had the feeling they'd blow the series)

Idk. If we show up prepared for the game like we did the past few weeks, we will win handily.

This game has "trap" written all over it but I think the team has really been preparing well so I'm not as worried as I would normally be to play such a bum team. I do feel like Rex is gonna wanna get that d up to play against Ben since he is doing so good. Also it will be interesting to see how the team responds to the cutting of Ethan Hemer. I expect them to come out fired up and play a great game in his honor. I bet Ben will wear his jersey during warmups really. I mean look at how well we played after losing Moye. Just sayin' man. Just sayin'. That was the moment of clarity for the team where they said "If MOYE isn't safe then we had REALLY better start performing or we will be next." Maybe the same thing will happen with the Hemer cutting???

Exactly. We almost always play down to crappy teams, but we are on one hell of a roll. If we play half as well as we did last week, we'll win no matter what kind of motivation they have.

Also, I don't think this story (someone flew a plane over practice with a sign asking to fire the GM) qualifies as the same type of drama as the Ray Rice thing or rallying around someone whose mother passed away. There's probably a good chance this is something half the team agrees with. And it's a bummer of a message to agree with. Feelings of hopelessness don't usually motivate people.

I just read a few of those player comments saying it pissed them off and he's part of the family....took that to mean they're gaining a little motivation from the embarrassment.

Yeah, maybe, what do I know. I could see that happening in a place like Pittsburgh. But the Jets are one of those teams where, when a guy comes from them to us, the guy says, "Wow, this place is so different, no wonder the Jets lose all the time." It's just not the same there. I don't see them as a family, for the most part. Maybe some of them will play harder. I bet most of them don't care. I wouldn't care if I played for them. I don't have blind loyalty to my bosses.

I'm worried about this being a trap game too. Obviously, the Jets get paid to play too. Obviously the last few seasons there were games you circled on your calendar that should have been easy wins because they were spanked by everyone else. Think TB this year. Years passed, Steelers missed out on the playoffs (are you kidding me?) by one game.

I would like to think that we come in ready to play and do so but this game has me worried, a lot.

The jets d is ranked 6th overall but 12th against the pass. So I would expect another big dose of the passing attack. I hope so. They are ranked 7th against the rush so I just wouldn't be surprised if we come out slingin'. It's supposed to be 53 with only a 10% chance of rain which would be favorable passing conditions. Hopefully Ben can stick it to them and keep making a case for MVP.

And the player who said that was Willie Colon. I hope we can line someone up against him, and chump him all day.

I agree with you 100%. I said that the Ravens would use the Ray Lewis thing as motivation and a lot of people disagreed with me. The St. Louis thing, as horrible as it was, I knew we didn't have a chance in hell to win that game. You simply cant overcome that kind of stuff.

He'll be great for our d because I'm sure he'll manage to get a few good penalties that can maybe put us in to some favorable down and distance situations to bring a little heat.

Thats just dumb, it would have been better if it was a toy jet plane with a banner, To me Ryan is always looking for media attention .. You would think he would have better things todo then play with toys. when your team is 1-8 lol

Difference is that Baltimore actually has a QB and some clear cut good players.

Woody Johnson likes him a lot though and I'm sure he realizes that he didn't do Rex any favors by having 20 million in cap space and not use it to surround Rex with the talent he needs to win.

I think the GM is in more hot water then Rex.

Sexy Rexy was also in the media saying his son and him have the secret weapon against Bryant's end zone explosion. Bottom line, if we're prepared we should win. Will it be easy? I doubt it. Even with the parade of points we've been throwing up the last couple of weeks, it ain't been easy. We'll find out Sunday.

I agree. His live affair with Rex runs deep for some reason, probably the publicity that he brings. My theory is that they are putting most of the blame on Idzik so they can fire him and keep Rex. Scapegoat!
