With all the depth at the skill positions is it time to shelf Archer ? Not that I don't like him , but it seems to me his hat could be used more somewhere else ...It's not like he is huge in the return game , he doesn't get enough snaps on Offense to warrant a hat ...

Why not give his hat to a guy we may need more during the game ...My vote is still for Big Dan we could use his Beef in short yardage and he could rest our other DL a few snaps a game. Not sure how you guys feel about that , but a QB would think Twice about a sneak with him in there IMO...

Plus Big Dan has a lot of range and might could block a Punt or a FG to change the game...

    I'd say a 3rd RB is more important on gameday than a 3rd NT.

Archer doesn't even do kickoffs anymore.

If something horrific happens, I'm okay Will Johnson toting the rock.

    I'd sit Archer.

Could we not use Will Johnson as a runner ? Plus a lot of Teams put WR'S back there and run spreads and outside stuff so we would have lots of plans if Bell and Blount went down. Or could just go to the pass using the quick screen game..

I just see Big Dan as more valuable on game day , his chance of making a Impact play is greater than Archers IMO...

I disagree here. If you can get this kid a lane, he can take it to the house.

I like the Mountain but not having him in there didn't seem to hurt the defense. I'd keep putting Archer on KO's, has a much greater chance of breaking one then Blount.

I'd sit Thomas to get Big Dan in.

This is what I've been saying. I also wish he would still return kicks.

I can see it both ways but I'm still a fan of Archer. The opportunities are just so scarce right now but his big play potential is tantalizing. I think the next few weeks against the Jets and Titans he will resume his KO duties and maybe even have more of a chance to get his hands dirty.......oh and luv the Roth-eye the QB Man.

It's pretty perfect, but I can't take credit for it. I saw it on Twitter via SBNation last night. There were a lot of funny ones being made last night.

No. Actually it's time to give Archer his KO duties back as give him some snaps. We could potentially blow out one or both of the next two teams we play, and he could benefit from some late game touches. With Jones and Taylor coming back near the end of the season, McCullers will be inactive anyways. Archer will still have his helmet, so it's more important to me to get him going than to squeeze 5 snaps a game out of a 3rd NT.

I have sort of mixed feelings on this one.

I think if you are going to spend a hat on Archer, there must be some plan as to how to use him. What are we trying to accomplish with him? Is he a RB? A WR? What? What do we want to accomplish with him? At least he gives you a shot at doing what happened to us last night whereas Blount is just no threat. Teams almost want Blount to return the ball, whereas they don't want to kick to Archer.

On the other side, McCullers isn't going to take one to the house, but if he stops the middle up on a couple of 3rd and 4th and shorts, he may actually have a larger impact than Archer. Archer played 3 offensive snaps last night. THREE! That isn't using him for any purpose.

I think the inactive list this week at the Jets is potentially pretty well set. We need to have 7 inactives: Taylor, L. Jones, Ventrone, S. Thomas, Shazier, and Troy should all be out. That leaves one spot for McCullers, Hubbard, J. Brown, and B. Webb as all options as guys who didn't get helmets this past week which probably will coming week.

It's hard for me to say that I'm a fan of the Archer pick but I really don't mean that as a slight against him. The fact that he hasn't gotten to really "show off" in the kicking game is because the kicking game has been extremely neutered by the league. So, for me, I think that just in general return specialists are going to become a thing of the past because the return game has basically became a thing of the past. So if Archer can't get involved in the kicking game it is going to be hard for him to do much on offense because we have too many "conventional" players ahead of him. That's why I consider it a not very wise pick. If he COULD get it together though it would be awesome because if he has big play ability, AB has it, Bell has it, Bryant has it, and of course Ben has it. So that would add an element of absolute nightmare for defenders and coordinators to deal with. I really think that is what the Steelers were thinking when they took him. I'm just not sure it was worth the risk when we are stretched so thin at other places.

That guy is pitiful. He just doesn't seem to have any fight in him and usually gets owned by whoever is lucky enough to be blocking him.

The OTHER Cam however has no quit in him. Did you notice last night when he fell over the center and then got up and STILL got in Flacco's grill? We need more of that!

What is even the point of Archer? What is he? I can't imagine why we would use him as a WR as Brown/Wheaton/Bryant are far better and using Archer would take away from the top 3s reps. 3rd string RB? He is so tiny!

I dont get get why we use DBH as much as we do either. Pretty soon teams will figure out that he is just a decoy (which that's all he is). If we go spread, is like to see the best guys on the field ...Brown/Wheaton/Bryant/Heath/Bell then Moore can be the floater when needed. DHB and archer just eat snaps from better players.

I think it's just hard to get Archer on the field with the talent at the other positions. I'm hoping he can make a play to showcase his talent at some point, because it sure isn't special teams.
