If they are not letting him pick his pieces and a HC is supposed to be able to, what is that saying about Tomlin? They don't trust him and will not give him the keys. WHY? They don't believe the bull they bought in the interview!! If I were Tomlin Id be looking for a new job on principal but I am sure he knows he wouldn't get hired into a better situation than he is in currently so the standard is the standard.

So he lets Lebeau go and decides to let Ben go after next year...can you imagine the uproar he will get with that.

I'm not a huge fan of Tomlin, but I feel he is not getting a fair shake. I loved Cowher but it took him 14 years to win a SB, he took over a bad team and never won anything (SB) until the Rooneys forced him to take Ben...so what does that say about him as a coach?

Now Tomlin wins a SB (with Cowher's players...even though Cowher could not get that team back into the payoffs the next year after the SB) and he get no credit for it. Had Haley forced on him (like Ben was forced on Cowher) and we happen to miss the playoffs since he has been here. Tomlin and Ben both wanted Bruce A...the Rooneys wanted a change (so did I).

    How is that fair?

I think this is pretty much the same as I feel.

All I'd add is, and I said it a while ago on here, that this whole "blame everything on Tomlin" just tends to obscure any detailed discussion. Which is not to say that Tomlin isn't part of the problem - it's more that pinning everything on one issue overlooks the seven hundred other problems. And saying that those are the responsibility of the HC to fix doesn't change the fact that they're there. The faults that are Tomlin's are his, and there are many.

Some of the discussion here this week reminds me an awful lot of the Bruce Arians threads on the old board. BA became the target of everything that was wrong with the team, at the expense of recognising any other deficiencies. Then when BA left, there was the realisation that perhaps he was only part of the problems.

Problems. Plural. We still got lots of 'em.

Yeah, I called that after BA was run out of town. I said lets see who falls under the cross hairs next. Mostly Tomlin with some directed at DL and even the Rooneys have drawn their ire :lolol:

While I agree with the fact that there are many problems, none of the problems will be fixed until Tomlin gets control of this team. Once that happens, the dominoes will fall into place. I truly believe that other than a suspect secondary, this team is loaded with talent.

The major issue is: I don't believe Tomlin will ever get the control necessary...

to me the biggest problem is the colbert /tomlin combo draft being disconnected with lebeau living in the past . me too i think that tomlin is not the answer but somebody has to make something, tomlin should had fire/retire lebeau after the denver fiasco , and starting implementing his defense .. now we would have a more clear picture

As much as I love Lebeau, the problem is that he is untouchable. Nobody could convince me otherwise

then if is untouchable draft for him not for another scheme, i mean we needed a big nose , and we went with mclendon ignoring the position we needed big lb and we took spence and then shazier (good players but does they fit the scheme ?) not too mention hood silvester ...

Yes, we definitely need an anchor at DT. While I know our secondary is suspect, a franchise player at DT is a must in the 3-4
