Bell was a great pick. Never cared for Lacy. I don't need 2 or 3 full years. I liked him batter than Lacy going into it and knew it wouldn't even be close. If he keeps his nose clean and stays healthy he's gonna be great! Kids got heart, we saw that on the goal line last season. I'll never forget that play... Should've been 6!

I was thinking that last night during the game! It's because everything goes sorta slow mo for him.

Shouldn't Marshawn Lynch be considered in this "who is the best back" debate? I would take Lynch over Lacy.

I own up to my initial disagreement with the Bell pick. I thought he was 3rd round material at best. That said, I never wanted Lacy and supported taking Bell even with Lacy on the board, so I can truly enjoy Bell's whomping of him in the comparison.

Bernard is the one I was hoping we'd get that year. And even if he does turn out better than Bell in the long run, he wasn't available to us. We nailed that pick. Wheaton, too. If Jarvis and Shamarko pan out, that's 4 very strong picks in a row... freakin' Landry. Oy.

I remember someone on this board saying how good Bell would be back when people were p***ing and moaning about the pick. I remember BFT backing that same guy that made those bold and, in hindsight, prophetic predictions! (thanks BFT)

NO PROBLEM! I just couldn't see a guy named "Lacy" playing for the STEELERS!! LOL! Bell's highlight reel from college was riDICULOUS!

Well, the debate is about the backs the Steelers could have or should have drafted in 2013, so no, I don't think so. I do like me some Skittles, though.

Oh. I was late to the thread and just thought it was a general thing since Numbah said he would take him over "any back in the league" and also Ladainian endorsed him as such also right? Or did LT say he was 2nd best? But yeah, Lynch is an absolute manchild though. Even if he wasn't going to be our RB I wouldn't mind him as an o-lineman. LOL.

Lynch is a friggn beast, but age does count for something. RB's tend to disappear around the age of 30, especially power runners like Lynch.

Yep! I say they can have Foster and Adams and we get Lynch in one of the most blockbuster trades in NFL history! LOL!

Yeah but TTF and myself have decided that he's going to play on the o-line so the whole "he's 30" thing shouldn't matter. LOL.

Right now Bell is the best back in the league. I can't think of a more complete back. And with his weight lost this season he clearly is faster than last season or in college. THRILLED to have this guy on the team. :smiley1:

He's close for me, but I need to see it for a few more games first before I crown him over guys like Lynch, McCoy and Charles.

Not to brag :applaud: but I was pimping for the Steelers to draft Bell on this message board, I watched him play for 2 years in college and wanted the Steelers to draft him. I didn't understand the argument from fans that the second round was too early to take him, that's about where he was projected to go. Gio Bernard went earlier than Bell and Bell was more productive in college.

I have always liked Bell but I was thinking about his speed after watching his 80 yard run. You are correct, he is faster than he was in college or last year but not at one time during that run did I think to myself, "man he is gone!". His speed isn't what I love about him. What I liked about him in college and, even more so now, is his patience (vision)! In the same vein I better give credit to LB. He has more vision than I gave him credit for.

That run was a great representation of him as a back. He approaches the line patiently, hits the hole, explodes through it, then gets caught from behind. He doesn't have any long speed. All of those guys chasing him were relatively slow. That whole chase looked like it was in slow motion to me. If either of Carolina's safeties had speed, Bell would have been caught much earlier in the chase. But for the first 15 yards of that run, he was plenty fast. He blew right by the entire defense. And in all three games he's made guys look foolish with his quickness.

Wow, January, thats got me beat :lolol:

I was pretty sure you were the only other one here that may give me a run for my money, thought I was in the clear when I found another thread discussing RBs in March and no one mentioned him, not even you. Dang it:write:
