To have a fair comparison, we'd need to wait for 2 full seasons to develop, and then compare yardage (rushing and combined), contribution to total offense (%) and downtime (% of total games missed due to injury).

I was a fan of Lacy when @Bama, but had concerns about his health and durability. Hope Bell proves us right.
And yes, we are a better team after drafting Bell, than what we could be if used that draft pick on a CB.

My brother is a Raider fan that HATES the Steelers. We watched the game together last night and even he admitted that Bell is the real deal and might be the best RB in the NFL right now.

I'll say this, I don't think any RB has the vision and patience that Bell exhibits. He's a stud..

Bell looks like a completely different RB than the plodder we drafted. I hated the pick, but I'm loving me some Le'Veon Bell right now. He's making some defenders look downright foolish out there.

Kuechly sure didn't have an answer for him..

On the 81 yard run Kuechly hit the gap to the right and Bell made an awesome cut to hit the hole on the left.. It was a thing of beauty.

There are times when it's like he's in the matrix.

Could be a debate... McCoy certainly hasn't started the year like Bell has.

I wouldn't trade Bell for any RB in the league right now. I know it's a lofty statement but I wouldn't..

    Nope. Doesn't end the debate.

its a message board, we debate everything.

p.s. Text doesn't always show the smart arsed remarks as intended. My previous similar reply was meant in that accord. :)

I never thought of Bell as a plodder, he's doing exactly what I thought he could do, I started campaigning for him months before the draft.

:this!: Not so lofty but dead balls on accurate.

Add Giovanni Bernard to that debate and they are both beaten.

    McCoy is a lousy tipper

The Steelers liked Bell better than Lacy because he's a three down back and has better hands. Lacy seems to be the type of back that will wear out after a few years he takes a lot of hits, and has had concussion problems.

Bell reminds me a lot of AP (not the child abuse of course, well I hope), but Bell has better receiving skills. So I think it is possible, assuming the Steelers continue to develop and build the O-line, that Bell could turn out to be one of the best offensive players in the league. And that might not take a long time to happen.

It's probably that HinesHOF guy, he disliked all the players and generally had the worst view you possibly could have about most everything! Don't ever see him post here anymore and that's a plus.

BAck to the debate. It's plain to see that Bell is more athletic than Lacy, and that leads to Bell being able to do more. His cuts are second to none and he has the best vision I've ever seen out of a steelers RB, he helps me realize how horrible Fast Willie and Mendenhal's vision actually was. Those terrible one yard runs that were a result of the RB's putting their heads down and running into the OG never happen with him.

I agree that, even tho there are RB's in this league with considerable talent, I wouldn't take any of them over Bell because he really looks like the next great one to me.

He really reminds me of a cross of Forte and Peterson...will a little McCoy thrown in there. He's a beast...and very possibly our best player.

I think Mendenhall had the right ideas, and tried to get done what Bell has been doing. Bell just makes more out of less space. He's like what I always wanted Mendy to turn into, and a lot, lot more.

It's like TTF said: he's in the matrix. He sees it all in slow motion.

Let's hope he continues to improve.

There's too many variables and therefore you could debate who's "Better" until the world ends...or one of them makes the HOF, or wins SB's, those are the 2 trump cards in football debates.

We could however debate who is more physically gifted..which can be seen to directly correlate with who has the brightest future. If that were indeed the debate, I'd get behind the microphone and preach the Bell gospel all day long.
