Actually along with how bad our defense is with lack of strength and poor tackling, we also get worse with our free agent signings of Cam Thomas and Mike Mitchell. Mitchell whiffed on many tackles and was horrible. This was suppose to be an upgrade at that position when we signed him, but he looks horrible and so does Cam. Really starting to question our scouting, our GM and talent evaluators which include Tomlin. We just seemed to draft better football players when Cowher was there.

I wonder if it's a question of talent, or is it that we're not putting our guys in a position to succeed. Practice is very important in football. I wonder what we're doing in practice every week. If guys keep missing tackles, practice tackling more and more until guys stop missig tackles. Are we doing the wrong kind of drills? Are we not communicating to our guys what their assignments are?

How is it that every guy we draft and every guy we sign seems to suck, especially on the defensive side. When it was Cowher, Colbert and Lebeau, everyone we brought in on the defensive side seemed to pan out. We lost so many talented players under Cowher but we didn't miss a beat, especially at LB'er. I remember friends of mine used to call Pittsburgh a LB'er factory, because it didn't matter who we put at that position, they would excel. Same GM, same DC, different head coach. Coincidence? I don't know, but what I do know is it doesn't seem to matter who we put on the field, they don't play well

Seems like to me we are not drafting tougher stronger players like in the Cowher regime. How many times were our guys pancaked last night. They seemed to be out muscled on both sides of the line. The NFL station guys were talking about this also after the game. We are not as physical as we were. Is this due to not practicing as much as in the past?

Anyway we are going to have a long season again, just not sure when the Rooney's will pull the plug as I see no end of this in sight. This team even with some improvement is far from a playoff type caliber team, and sad to watch.
