This team is nothing but a joke. Only team I know that the D gives yardage to it's opponents. If we get to 8-8 we will be lucky. Not well coached at all, Ben still running for his life. Long season ahead I'm afraid.

The patched together OL at the end of last season was actually pretty good. And yes, long season.

Tomlin and the GM have to go I know its only the second game of the season but can you think of one draft pick in the last 3 years (Bell is it) that has been worth a **** and don't tell me there O line is getting better There D is a joke missed tackles penalties cant stop the run We have a had a long run of being a great football team now its time for some losing seasons with the talent we have its to bad but its reality I hate to say this but I've seen this coming for the last 3 years. The last thing I can say is GO STEELERS!!

Just pisses me off for us to be where we are now. I wasnt expecting Suoer Bowl Champs, but damn not this either. I did something last nite I have never done before, and that was turn off the TV and go to bed. That has never even been a thought no matter how bad it was. I guess i invest to much into this who knows but it puts a one hell of an emotional toll on you to watch a football game when Im this invested into them. But hey I got 10 days before the next one and you can best believe my ass will be there in person cheering for my guys! HERE WE STEELERS!!!!

I was never on the "fire Tomlin" bandwagon but this team is not disciplined, and not very well coached, the sloppiness is the only thing consistent with the team. No offense and no defense, well at least I don't have to worry about whether the game is on or not on Sunday, I won't, or I should say, I can't watch this kind of football, it looks like they don't even practice.

As I have been stating for the past couple of years we need CB'S in a bad way. Yes we have problems up front on the DL as well , but until our guys can cover and tackle from the CB spot we have no chance..

Cortez and Gay are barely good enough to be in the NFL . They should be on a practice squad not starters . Anytime they face average WR'S they get beat.

The FO must change their approach , we over value LB'S and under value CB'S , we have to stop staying put and drafting BPA we need players that fit . If they don't draft a CB next year in round 1 then the FO is just plain stupid ,or they don't want to win.

Flacco had 166 passing yards ... 85 of those went to WRs.

Not the amount of yards you give up ,it's when you give them up..It seemed to me on every 3rd. down they just found Gay or Allen and played pitch and catch. Plus those 2 missed at least 4 tackles a piece. They are horrid.

CB's are far from our only problem. We have problems at almost every position. We can't get to the QB at all. Teams need to pressure QB's at times and we simply can't do it. Don't tell me we don't have the talent to rush the QB, because we do. Quite simply, our coaches aren't putting our players in a position to succeed.

As for poor tackling, I'll say this. Under Cowher, we were considered perhaps the best tackling team in the league. We had a reputation of not missing tackles and that stayed with Cowher basically his whole time in Pittsburgh. Obviously whatever Cowher did in practice helped our guys succeed in terms of tackling. Under Tomlin, we have forgotten how to tackle and that's not getting better, it's getting worse. It doesn't matter who we have on the field, we can't tackle. Obviously whatever is happening in practice is causing this problem and it's not getting better

There were two big issues with the tackling last night - first, the whiffs; second, the penalties.

Tackling has got way more complex, I think, since Cowher was around. But that doesn't excuse either of those. Players have to know how to tackle, both at a fundamental level (thus avoid missing) and at a professional level (thus not drawing a penalty).

No doubt it's changed. I remember the camera showing Tomlin after one of the flags last night and he was shaking his head in disgust. It was clear he wasn't happy with the call. I also wasn't happy, not because it was a bad call, but because of the rule. With that said, Tomlin can't get frustrated, he needs to realize he can't change the rule, so he needs to teach his guys to tackle in a manner that won't draw a flag. That's what needs to be done. I don't know what were doing in practice, but it's not working

Yep, I was actually thinking the same thing at the same time in the game. If the hit was illegal, it was illegal. If they had let the Ravens get away with it, that's different - but they hadn't.

Mike Mitchell is also increasingly irritating me. Fine, get mad about what you perceive as a bad call. But calm the hell down and get on with your job!

It's like these guys think because they don't like the new rules that they don't have to play within them. This team still hasn't learned to adapt. It starts from the top. Tomlin was visibly mad about the call, but he can't get mad because then the players get mad rather than adjust their play. Tomlin needs to tell them it doesn't matter what they think of the rules, they need to play within them. Aim lower! Don't go anywhere near the head, it's not that hard if it's practiced.

Glad you're all on board. I've been seeing this for a couple of years at least.

Now that Cowher's players and locker room culture have faded, look at what we have.

Something is not right in there. These guys have NO fire when they get on the field. Only time they get excited is when they get pissed at the ref for there on screw up. I dont believe this can be turned around over nite, but fingers are crossed. Somebody needs to step up and light a fire under their asses and fast.

With Cowher, the team didn't tend to beat itself. That's because Cowher had a PHILOSOPHY and out of that philosophy came the team's IDENTITY. Run the ball; pound your opponent; stop the run; tackle; don't beat yourself with turnovers and penalties. It wasn't sexy, and maybe some of us wanted the team to open up more (they did in 95 and 02), but rarely could we claim Cowher's teams didn't have an identity.

The underlying issue for Tomlin's teams is a lack of any controlling philosophy, leading to no identity at all. When the head coach has no idea of what team he wants, he ends up putting it together with parts that don't fit. And this is what is happening: coaches and players that aren't meshing at all. That's why they look lost and out of synch. I warned people of this way back in 07 when he was hired: keeping LeBeau and promoting Arians seemed "smart" and "safe" in the short-term. But in the long-term, what it's shown me is that he had no idea how to put a staff together and mold a football team to meet his philosophy--perhaps because he doesn't even have one. I expected Tomlin to let the entire staff go and bring in his men and say "This is MY football team." He didn't do that, and it should have been the #1 clue that he was not cut out for this.

He wasn't allowed and it appears that maybe hasn't changed. I don't know if he wanted to keep Lebeau and Arians, but it became apparent that he wasn't calling the shots when he said he was keeping Arians only to have the Rooney's fire him a few days later. It's been speculated that the Rooney's also hired Haley. No clue if that's true or not, but if they fired the guy who Tomlin wanted to keep, then it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

He should be able to pick his own guys, but if the Rooney's dont trust him enough to do so, they should just get rid of him and bring in someone they do trust.
