One thing I haven't seen talked about tonight are Special Teams. We didn't look bad on there and "good Wing" showed up. If not for AB going Enter The Dragon we would have had a td on special teams today. Also the play that I think was the absolute key play of the game was the fake punt. On Cooler Talk today it was actually revealed that Robert Golden audibled at the line and called that play. He said they had practiced it a ton and that Tomlin told him if he ever thought there was a good time to do it then he could do it. That was really heads up by him and brilliantly executed. So maybe our ST are gonna look a little better this year? Archer just needs to learn when not to take it out.

That played saved the game for us, even know they didn't score, it flipped the field and took the air out of the Browns. We started playing better after that.

It was a brilliant call, of course, those calls are only brilliant when they work :lolol:

I totally believe we lose that game had they just punted it away there.

Pretty amazing if golden actually called that play! Took a lot of you know what to call that play when we were near our own 20 yard line. Golden must have noticed the uncovered gunner, he made a decent throw and Blake made a nice catch. At the time I think golden had just as many passing yards if not more than what Ben did in the 2nd half... Lol

No Special Teams were wretched for the sheer fact that we can never overcome the decade long obstacle of teaching our players to not illegally block in the back or hold on returns. This is really unacceptable. They should keep special team players that don't do that. Like seriously, it is really easy to stop illegally blocking in the back, if you see a player turned away from you, don't block him. Why this can't be drilled into our players minds is mind boggling.

He did call it. He said so after the game. I thought the same thing though. Maybe Golden is Danny Smith's replacement??? LOL! Also Golden had a better passer rating than Ben!!! LOL!!!

Well now it appears that we've moved from blocking in the back (which I know Garvin had one today) to kicking in the face. LOL. But we didn't give up much on returns right? Although the clowns had a ton of penalties and seemed most of theirs were on special teams.

It was an awesome play. Tomlin said he called it in the post-game presser.

Really? During Cooler Talk they said Golden called it. Even Golden said he did. I guess I will text Tomlin and ask him for clarification. Stand by.

I seriously doubt Golden has the green light to make that call. Can you imagine the hell he'd catch if the play fails.

Was the fake punt your call or the up-backs’ call?
    I called it.

They had been ten-up challenging us trying (and) trying to make us reduce our gunners. We weren’t interested in reducing. They came down (and) we took what was given.

That's what I thought as well. But Batch kept stressing the point that it was an audible that Golden called because they had been shifting all day in formations and then when he saw a busted coverage he switched to the fake. Golden said that was what happened also. I really was pretty floored by it and that's why I started the thread actually. I just thought "dang Tomlin really DOES delegate responsibility!" It just seemed like a REALLY risky time for that play. Especially with the way the momentum was going.

Are you saying Tomlin or Golden said this? I was never really sure from your original post about this.

Hmmm... That's weird because they were so emphatic that Golden did it during Cooler Talk. I guess no one else heard it but me. It definitely makes more sense that Tomlin called it though because honestly I don't know how comfortable I am with special teams guys having THAT much leeway ya know?

I think its a little of both here...Tomlin called for the play...HOWEVER...he gave Golden the option to audible out of it if he didnt like what he saw/etc.

Batch assumed Golden audibled, but he could have been mistaken. I'm guessing they told him when he went in, that if he saw something on that play pre snap he had the gohead.....

So when they took the field he KNEW they were gonna fake it? They made it out on Cooler Talk that he just had the freedom to audible as long as he saw the gunner uncovered. I took it that he went on the field thinking they were gonna punt it but then he saw the busted coverage and decided to run the fake. The word "audible" always makes me think that the original play wasn't called and that's why I took it that Golden basically made that decision himself. That was sorta how they made it sound. It makes MUCH more sense though what you are saying.
