Porter had Hampton and A. Smith, two absolute beasts that tied up multiple blockers.

AB played a little tonight. Other than that I would say "Gradowski" as the analyst would say.

If only we were within one score, we could also practice having lousy clock management.....oh well, maybe game 4!

Just while ago I was saying how we should be calling Casey instead of Harrison and DaBeard. Man I really miss him.

It's because the league and offenses have changed but Lebeau refuses to. It's time....

Problem is we are not getting the double teams from our DL. Any chance Greg Lloyd, Aaron Smith and Big Snack would come back. Yes I know Lloyd is a LB but I couldn't resist given his disposition haha.

Dude it is so extremely sad that we are more entertained by the dang analyst than the STEELERS!!!

Question is: will that trend continue with Hoyer?

Well, message-board posters, good practice for us so we can REALLY ramp up the complaining when the regular season starts. We've gotta warm up too, you know....

I watch the Seahawks D and actually feel nostalgic because we used to be just as dominant and fun to watch. I was one of the few around here that literally enjoyed every minute of the Super Bowl last year because that d was so awesome. They played with more passion than we have in years.

Oh no, I agree with you. My point is that fans often see some guy at the bottom of our depth chart make a few plays late in preseason games and determine that they are better than the vets that they are frustrated with ... never factoring in that those same vets would be setting the world on fire if they got the opportunity to play vs 3rd string scrubs that are soon to be cut and out of the NFL.

People were down on DHB and talking up J.Brown and Bryant, but DHB while hardly great has actual NFL production under his belt. I'm not a huge fan of his, but he's one of our top 4 WRs and should certainly make this team.

The jury is still out on Brown I think because he has had to play with Landry who can't give him a decent look.

Why does Chip Kelly's team look like they're with it? Why do they look like a well-oiled machine? And why, by contrast, does Tomlin's teams so continuously look "dazed and confused."

The answer, to me, is pretty simple. Tomlin doesn't have a philosophy. It's been the problem since the day he was hired. There is no mindset, not organizational philosophy, no identity. Any good organization or team becomes so because there is a controlling ideology from the top down. "This is who we are." The Steelers had a philosophy under Noll and they had one under Cowher. It's why Noll and Cowher consistently got the right coordinators: because they knew what they wanted to do. And it's why they tended to get good players: because they knew what they wanted personnel-wise to match their philosophy.

The Steelers do not have this anymore.

The team is as lost as the head coach.

I don't know if Chip Kelly will be a successful head coach. But I do know that HE KNOWS what he wants to do with his football team. He went into the Philly job knowing WHO HE WAS and WHAT TEAM HE WANTED. Good head coaches tend to be that way.

I'm sorry to be beating a dead horse on this: but Tomlin's been clueless since day one and rode Cowher's team and lingering philosophy into a Super Bowl win. Since then, it's been a declining mess, because the man has no clue who he is. It's that simple.

The Seahawks defense was different than ours and has adapted to the quick passing game. The Steelers at the end of 08 relied on blitzing coming from all sorts of different places and stopped the run. The Seahawks work to immediately collapse the pocket and then they have fast, big, physical safeties, corners and capable LB who pursue the ball and ball hawk. LeBeau's defense is really nothing like what Seattle does and it really is combination that he doesn't have the right players to do it, but he also is not adapting and is still stuck in trying to make guys to fit his scheme.

Not if we jam the WRs. Those deep passes take time if you jam the WR, and time is what our pass rusher need to get to the QB. Besides, that's what god created Safeties for.

Tomlin was the right guy for a few years because he brought a sense of calm and probably even someone the players could relate to better than Cowher. I actually think that helped in some of their playoff runs because though Cowher was a great coach he tended to get so tight he could squeeze a diamond out of his ass in those playoff games and I think the team felt that. But I do agree that Tomlin does not have an identity and it is a huge problem. One area I still defend him on though, is I do wonder if there has been something from above that still leans on LeBeau ... i.e. would Tomlin had replaced LeBeau if he could have.

Something which sticks out after tonights game. The offensive line is amazing for Philly.. This is indeed something which I had hoped Munch would bring to the Burgh.

Did not matter whether it was 1st stringers or 3rd they seem to know how to protect the QB and run and pass block well..

Since the Arians fiasco, I have wondered if that is Tomlin's fault and if he truly has control over his coordinators or a say in who those coordinators are.
