Per Adam Schefter of ESPN by the end of preseason it's expected to be 10 players per team. That's good news for the Steelers they seem to have a lot of young guys who need some time to develop. They can put Landry Jones on the PS.

Why not let all 53 players dress?

On that note why 53? make it an even #. Say, 56? Then you can have your 53 dress and designate 3 for injury back-up.

Or just have 53 dress period and roster to 56?

It's not like Jones has earned his spot on the 53, Ed Bouchette was one of the first to suggest the move.

Some of the media that covers the NFL was speculating this will lead to expanded rosters and more games.

Good for us, potentially be able to keep more.

Jones will not be one them.

If they add more games I hope they expand the total we can keep on the roster as well as increase the total that dress. Increasing the PS sounds like there heading that way.

This is good news. Keep more kids in the system. It will let us be a little more versatile with our 53 man roster too by allowing us to stash a guy on the squad and only keep say 2 QB's,3 RB's, or 3 TE's.

Not saying it's not a possibility, I just don't get all of the vitriol, disdain and name calling. He's a young player trying to find his way and so many are ready to throw him under the bus. It's gotten ridiculous. He is what he is. A fourth round draft pick who may or may not develop into a quality player.

A rule that I'd love to see is to allow a rookie to be assigned to the PS for 1 season (paid his contract salary) without having to clear waivers. We have guys who need a year on the PS, but we may lose them if we drop them from the final 53. Bryant pops into mind. Anyway, I'm sure that will never happen.
