According to him the money isn't enough for what he's seeking though. He's in no hurry to sign he has a 10 million insurance policy. I don't see the Steelers or any other team giving him a big contract, even if he's cleared to play. The Steelers neurosurgeon performed Finley's surgery so he knows how healthy he is. Scroll down the page to find the article.

Not that I care about this guy, but two of his comments made think hmmmm.

He said "tax free " money. I wonder what the IRS thinks?

If he has an insurance policy, those are generally if you get hurt and can't play. Not if you just don't feel like playing.

He did get the part about waiting half right. If he waits and players get hurt, his value can go up. If no one gets hurt, and teams are set, his value goes down.

I'm not sure he is the brightest bulb?

The insurance policy he has is one most players making big money get, in order for him not to get the insurance money he would have to be offered a deal that is considered reasonable but low ball deals can be discarded because he isn't signed due to injury. I heard this fox sports network and they also said that it is a disability policy which is tax free but they aren't sure how it works with that large of a sum unless it is to be paid as an annuity.

We don't know the wording of his policy so we can't assume too much. The thing is he has been cleared medically to play professional football and he has been offered work to play. Can he still collect on that insurance policy now?

Beyond that I don't want him. He's not a good blocker which our system requires from it's TE and since we're moving to a OZBS and improved focus on our rushing attack he doesn't fit. We have Miller and Spaeth, Great blockers and solid receivers with Miller having Great hands and excellent rte running and Spaeth having good hands and extremely tall for that red zone target. Finley may be very athletic but he also has inconsistent hands.....

You have to wonder? But remember didn't Levi
    pass our physical?Also
I believe it goes to show you if true, the Steelers are not to confident in the TE position after Heath.

    Them and me both.

Having said that, it's not necessarily the case that this shows that - a fit and healthy Jermichael Finley is quite a large step up from Matt Spaeth. He was kicking around for a long time. It's one of those opportunities that was probably worth exploring for any FO.

Where did it say he failed medical in Seattle? IIRC, they never even gave him a physical. It stands to reason that the Steelers would have a better idea than anyone about his condition.

At Heaths age, and considering the OC likes TE 's, I'm guess ing they aren't confident even with Heath.

I read a USA today article siting multiple agents and related insurance people, and the consensus is since he has apparently been offered a contract he "Will have a very hard time collecting on a disability policy ".

They also disclaimed that this is without reading the contract but is based on typical contracts .

ah. thanks TTF. hadn't seen that. i gotta get out more. :smiley1:

anyway, i don't see that big of a problem with willj and palmer and blanchflower. who knows maybe paulson has improved. i think we will have a good 3rd and maybe even a guy on the PS in blanchflower to help out. willj needs a bigger role. he is a good receiver and the talk of him on the field in the no huddle, he would become more important as that FB/H-back/TE/WR type player if needed. it saves a roster spot too, because he could be a RB if some major catastrophy hit, at least in an emergency. i think we will be fine at the position.

I think the agent is throwing Finely's name out there with the Steelers as a marketing ploy for his player.

I doubt Steelers have real interest in him.

If we would sign J Finley, he would immediatley
be our second best TE on the roster, bye bye to all the others. this is bizarre keeping all these TE's. Keep Will johnson and let the others get on with their lifes work.

I don't think that is remotely true. Heath had a great season under Haley before getting hurt and did an admirable job last season coming off a bum knee.

They have been linked to him for awhile now and we all know they love to carry 11 TEs on the team so I actually think this is true. I'm sure they had a long talk with the Dr beforehand.

I think he would be a good pick up for the right money on a 1 year "prove it" deal. The guy is a weapon at the TE position, and could be a nice fit. My guess is that he will find the market a bit luke warm and have to settle for something less than what he's seeking. May as well be with us.

I'm not questioning Heath. Just what else is with him. They like 2 tight end formations.
