IMO this only improves our WR core if Wheaton takes a step in his development and whatever WR we draft can make some impact even if he isn't starting. Between Moore, DHB, Moye, and J. Brown we can find 2 WRs to fill in positions from 3-5. Now I say 3-5 because I think it is likely they start the year as the 3 and 4 WRs but get moved down as the season goes on and the draftee develops. This of course makes the assumption that none of them just grab that #3 slot so hard that they won't let go of it.

The reality is last year our #4 and #5 receivers had 8 catches combined. 2012 they combined for 20. 2011 only 4 WRs caught passes with the #4 Cotchery getting 16.

Thats a good point and I do think Wheaton will take a big step .I am still not sold that we draft a WR at this point..I do believe that Moore was brought in to be the #2 until Wheaton is ready and DHB was brought in to fight for a roster spot and PT...

I don't think that is how I am looking at things. Brown is our #1...that is what is clear. I think we draft a WR in 1 or 2 this year for sure. That player will be a big WR who is not made to play in the slot. IMO, we brought in Moore to play the slot spot until Wheaton is ready for it full time, and we brought in DHB to play the wide spot until the player we draft is ready to contribute more. Even if we don't draft someone, DHB is here to help push Moye and J. Brown into working for larger roles.

Speed alone does not make a player: Bey has a total of 8 TDs in 5 years, his 5 year season average for yardage is a measly 475 yards per season: When Mundy laid him out in the end zone in 2012 and he stayed down for 10 minutes with a concussion it took something out of him and he wasnt productive in 2013 after that hit and was cut by the colts, I seriously doubt if he can challenge any receiver for a starting job here, I think he was a stretch when he was drafted with a 7 spot pick and all the scouts agreed he was a stretch pick when the raiders took him: I think he is what his record says he is, a 4 receiver at best..........

I posted this earlier....but in reality...I think its more like this

    2013.....................2014
    A. Brown.............A. Brown
OUT E.Sanders.....M. Evans or K Benjamin
    OUT J Cotchery.....M. Wheaton
    M. Wheaton..........L. Moore
    OUT D Moye.........DHB

I think at minimum DHB takes the number 5 or 6 spot for his ST value alone...he will dress on gameday...and see the field at WR for maybe 10 snaps a game to try and take advantage of that speed...even if its just as a decoy to draw that deep safety and open up things underneath.

I posted a link illustrating his drops last year. I believe they are a result of poor focus and not bad hands, you seem to be familiar with him, did he have drop issues in college too? If he did, I don't hold out much hope for him then. I think Mann will be able to coach him up if anyone can. If not, no big deal, cost us next to nothing but this could end up being a very good signing for us.

I liked when I read while he struggled last year he volunteered to play specials so he could still help the team out. Sounds like a real team first guy and that's never a bad.

Yeah, that's good to hear. Here are some posts from an Indy reporter regarding that.

I'm torn in the DHB signing. I like that we're bringing in a solid team player, who will give it his all on every play. I also like the potential that his physical tools bring to the table. However, you can't ignore last season. He was a starter opposite Reggie Wayne to start the season. By the end of the season, he had not only been pushed out of the starting spot, he actually had zero catches in the last 5 games (including the 2 playoff games) - and all of this on a team that had a great young QB and was absolutely starved for WR help down the stretch. I mean, it's hard to fail as badly as he did last year given his physical gifts and the situation he was in. If your going to have a #5 WR who will mostly play special teams, wouldn't you rather that guy be a young up and coming player who hasn't already missed big on opportunities? Regardless, he is here now, and my hope is that he proves that my trepidation was unfounded, and plays so well that we have a tough time affording him next offseason.

You definitely don't hear "Mike Wallace" and "hellacious blocks" in the same sentence. :)

If this kid can put it all together he could be very good. His size and speed combo is deadly. Get out the stick'em

This sums up my thoughts perfectly. His situation was perfect last year. I don't think there could have been a better situation in the entire league for him to be in. He was shielded by Wayne early on, but as the season progressed, he was given every opportunity to not only succeed, but to be the #1 WR on that team. They were so starved for a #1 WR that they force fed him the ball at times and he couldn't do anything with it. I just don't think he's a very good football player and I don't see how he'll succeed here when he failed miserably last year. Like you said, why bring in a guy like that when we can bring in a young guy who can maybe develop into a starting WR some day? I just don't see the upside. But what's done is done, so all the best to DHB, I hope he pulls a rabbit out of his ass and shocks the world.

Mike Wallace should feel free to F himself. I don't think there's a player in the league I hate more. I despised him when he was still a Steeler. Ever since he said that he was losing focus during games, I wanted him cut, not from the team, but from the entire game of football.

It says a lot about the guy when the Fins are open to trading him after only one season and, by some reports, were actively shopping him.

The sad part is that if he'd humbled himself and worked harder on his deficiencies he possibly could have developed into something pretty special with his other-worldly speed. Instead, he chose to become a selfish diva and derail his career.

    Agreed..

Mike was advertised on speed..and speed is God given but he never worked on his attribute's to become a polished WR . We seen the lack of work ethics on field example.. When Ben was short or a ball sailed Mike made min. effort to come to the ball or make an extended play/leap to compensate if you will. His mindset was.. I ran the designed route and YOU failed to get me the ball and it carried onward to Miami. Selfish indeed!!
