Had my fingers crossed for a 4th for Lewis...but still not bad.

If Mettenberger is still there in the 6th, think they use the extra one on him?

Can anyone with knowledge explain to me how Baltimore's losses: Dannell Ellerbe, Paul Kruger, Ed Reed, Cary Williams

    Correlates to this compensation? A 3rd, two 4th's and a 5th???

Hope the Steelers consider it more then you do, 1st round talent in the 6th round? Worth thinking about. If reports are true, the Steelers are interested in him.

They just invested in a QB last year. They have more pressing depth needs than another QB to hold a clipboard.

    Not a bad haul.

I'd be all over that in the 6th round. I'm always a proponent for drafting guys that are top tier talent that drop late for one reason or another. I still doubt he lasts that long, but it is definitely something to think about.

I think they lost some others to. But the 1st 2 you mentioned signed decent sized deals if i remember...and probably got a good bit of playing time also. I dont know their stats/etc...but I don't think its odd that they got what they did. If say they got 4 3rd's...ok...maybe a little odd...but not those.

Things fall into you lap, they have to be considered. We're talking 6th round here, where most picks are projects, I'm not suggesting taking him in the 1st. Sheesh.

It still pisses me of that there is no set formula on paper for all to see. If the rats got what they got we definitely deserved a 4 for Lewis. Ed Reed didn't even deserve a comp. pick.

Just those 4, but they didn't gain any either. http://nfllabor.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/03-24-14-compensatory-picks.pdf

we got more than i thought .. a 3rd 5th and 6th .. but if baltimore gets a 3rd (2) 4ths and a 5th thats more and better picks than we get... so while we got alomst 10% of the total pics the ravens got 12 1/2 % of the picks and higher overall picks.. nice thing is we did get the first of the 3rd round picks...

    http://www.steelersdepot.com/2014/0...ree-compensatory-pcks-for-the-2014-nfl-draft/

so while we picked up on mosT of the other NFL teams we dropped more picks to the ravens .. and what ozzie will do with his picks compared to us is even more scarrrrry

Well at least it looks like we got the first comp. pick in the 3rd. The first in the 5th but the last in the 6th.

I know...everything should be considered...but still...they spend a higher pick on Jones with a 4th...and I think they really like him. AB was a 6th (plus a handful of other decent players came from there)...I'd take another AB type player who can help at a position of need than another QB with no guarantee to make the team/etc.

Interesting. I insisted we deserved a 3rd, 4th, and 6th, and I got my way with the 6th, which I thought was the least likely to happen. I thought we'd wind up with a late 7th or nothing for Mendenhall/Mundy. I still think we should have gotten a 4th out of Lewis, but I'll take it.

I'm with gpguy. I'd rather have another Antonio Brown than a guy who doesn't make the team. What's your problem, BF?? :lolol:

I see where you're coming from, but Mettenberger can ball. Nearly a Ben clone. Fearless, strong armed, and will play when hurt. If he is available, we may forget Landry was even here.
But if you can get him or Aaron Murray(6th-7th?) at garage-sale prices, you gotta kick the tires.

Yup, could catch lighting in a bottle, back to back franchise QB's, totally worth the risk to me, Mettenberger is a big talented QB, 1st rd talent.

Lol, silly me, I thought I was talking about possible franchise QB, dont know what got into me :lolol:
