Might be a slight upgrade over McLendon, slight!
I say if they're looking to replace McLendon at NT they need a more significant upgrade. Unless they feel McLendon is just going to tear it up at DE.

They're supposedly high on McLendon, so I guess we'll see. Thomas has consistency issues and lost his starting job last year. He also can get pushed around pretty easily, at least at times in the games I watched. Either way he should come cheap and depth is a serious issue.

I don't see him being an upgrade, though he's a little fatter so, there's that.

    :lolol:

He's not an upgrade, I am unmoved by him coming for a visit.

  5. I know of CT from his time at UNC, he's a waste of money if signed.

Before we "upgrade" McLendon we need to figure out what we want from our NT. We chose to shift from the Hampton space eater model to a nimbler type. McLendon wasn't very good, but that doesn't mean that we want to shift back to a space eater.

The Steelers don't need another Hampton type of NT, last season they their sub packages 60% of the time on defense. That's why it would be a bad pick to draft Nix at #15 he would come off the field on 3rd downs.

Look at the current champs though, you control the line of scrimmage and you can compete with anyone

  12. Respectfully, you're tripping if you think the Steelers don't need a hampton type player manning the middle. I do agree that Nix isn't the pick in the first, if Ebron is available that's my pick. The dline is in a dire need of an upgrade across the board. KC is on a short leash imo.

Don't know why people are saying that, I think Colbert hit a hr last draft, and started off FA this season by immediately filling a need at safety with a solid signing and has cut away some dead weight and let others walk, players that have only helped us to be 8-8 back to back seasons. I don't think the Rooneys are even remotely thinking about firing KC.

Why is everybody comparing him to McLendon? I was assuming they were looking for a replacement for Woods. Is Cam looking to earn starter money? Forget that.

I like Steve where he is, and I think the team does too. Although he might be able to do DE just as effectively; I don't know. I guess if the FO feels that he can, then they should just find themselves the BPA at either position and let Steve take the other. Either way, Cam Thomas shouldn't be starting for us. Sign him to backup money or move along.

There's less evidence that our 1st round pick played all of last season than there is of the whereabouts of Malaysia Airlines flight 370, and you call that a home run?

I don't think Colbert is in danger of losing his job either ... but he should be.

hit a HR? HR? ... maybe a bunt single... JJ disappointing... wheaton hurt with his busted up fingers.... bell ended up a lot better than i thought he would be after his fragile start.. but still not a great YPC average... sure dont see a HR draft last year? id love you to break the drafted players down from last year and rate them individually as single .. double... triple... home run or strike out

I think anytime you get three starters out of one draft its a homerun. jones to me wasn't disappointing. it has been pointed out many times rookies don't start for us so if you expected 10 sacks and 50 tackles then maybe your expectations are unrealistic. he showed flashes of what he can do and I think you will see it next year. bell and Williams were both very successful. jmo

    :this!:

    :this!:

Jarvis didn't play enough, and when he did he was so bad that our GM should be on the verge of getting fired. Bell is fragile half the time and his YPC is not good enough and that speaks to how underwhelming he is. Wheaton couldn't beat out the old-as-dirt, useless, unproductive Jerricho Cotchery, and as the #4 he didn't even bother to play through a couple of broken fingers. Shamarko Thomas couldn't manage to beat out Troy, and didn't find other ways to contribute. Half of our 6th round picks didn't even become starters, and the one that did still is not perfect!

Find ONE untrue statement in there. I dare you.

Williams wasn't a starter. The job fell to him after Foote got injured, and scrap heap Kion Wilson played like garbage.

Why not just pony up the money for Al Woods instead of Cam Thomas????

Last years draft is looking to be a great draft. We may end up with 4-5 starters from that draft by mid 2014 season. Don't know what else you want other than to just argue?

Is it because of a good draft or mediocre team?

It may be a combination of both, but a great draft for our team right now.

    I'll take on the dare.

Fragile half the time- bounced back as a rookie from injury and played the rest of the games. He got a hard blow on the head in the ravens game. That's it. No? Oh an steelers record for a rookie for yards from scrimmage.

Couldnt bet out Troy- your expectations are for a rookie to beat out arguably one of the best to ever play his position. Maye it isn't untrue but its definetly unrealistic.

Wheaton- I will agree that the playing time he recieved seemed to show he wasn't getting it enough but when a receivers job is to catch the ball with there hands fingers are pretty important. Didn't he have surgery on those fingers not just some splint. Oh 10 TDs isn't unproductive.

Jarvis- here I will agree with you. Right now I just hold hope that the game slows down for him. He seemed to be guessing when he played and had 1 move as a rusher.
