The Steelers manage the cap just fine. We paid to keep a Super Bowl winning team together in order to win a few more Lombardi trophies.

 

I was wondering the same thing how the Broncos could afford this spending spree.

 

Maybe they went to the DeBartolo/Snyder school of economics?

 

It won't matter much anyways. Peyton will still choke in the playoffs/superbowl.

 

They could have had the 85 Bears or 01 Ravens defenses and they STILL would have lost the SB to Seattle.

 

Basically, they are completely selling the farm to get another ring while they still have Manning. In a couple of years I have no doubt they will be in cap hell, and not be able to keep any of their home-grown talent.

 

I thought it was pretty telling that they signed Aquib Talib and TJ Ward right out of the gate. A big, physical CB and hard hitting safety. Hmmm. Sounds familiar.

 

Manning's big cap hits come after next season so they're loading up now since it's likely his last hoorah.

 

I disagree they have been competitive
