The Steelers have signed Cody Wallace to a 3 year deal according to Burt Lauten.

I'm liking this news. He filled in very well last year, and has flexibility to back up the C and G positions. This was one of the guys on my radar, and I'm happy to see him here.

Could it be an open competition for the left guard spot in camp? You don't sign a guy to 3 years not to compete.

Good signing...he earned more than a 1 year deal even if his sampling was small.

Hopefully they still bring back Velasco

I do wonder what the status on Velasco is. I definitely wanted him as the higher priority, although it does all depend on his medical.

According to Bouchette, he's still rehabbing and not yet healthy.

Wallace has a nasty streak that I hope is catchy. good signing. it at least puts someone in place for next year if pouncey's negotiations go south, literally.

This is my take. He struggled at 1st against Miami but rebounded well. Give him a year under Munchak and I'd like to see where this raw talent ends up.

I also look forward to seeing how embernasty develops.

I like this signing. Hopefully it's not too big of a FISTfull of dollars though.

Give me one more Oline signing and I'm pretty happy.

Beachum, Foster, Pouncey, DeCastro, Gilbert , Adams, Embernate, and Wallace. We probably should only carry 9, so this is looking good. Another position to avoid in the draft. That is unless someone like Matthews for no reason falls to us.

I'd say this spells the end for Velasco. Wallace can play center and we only need one back up center. Makes sense as Velasco would have cost much more than Wallace. We need the money for depth in other areas.

I think Velasco was a long shot regardless of Wallace's re-signing.

I don't think he would cost much either coming off the injury he has. If they have the finances, I'd like to see him back here.

I think the Steelers like him as a starter. Problem is we already have a starter at center.

Really want to see how Embernasty develops.

I'd bet Munchak won't let guys he's trying to evaluate sit the bench during pre-season either.

I was amazed at how lucky we got, bringing in free agents to replace the center position last year.
Overall, I thought Velasco looked better, but he didn`t last...
Cody did just fine, despite all the jokes, cuz he got caught on tape, doin what players for every team do, at the bottom of the pile...
He seemed to call out protections just fine, and wasn`t a turnstile, like sum other linemen...
Decent backup, and if he has the "position flexibility" that Tomlin covets, Good player to have.
Forgot all about Embernasty... Nice to have options...

I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do last year, hoping he come back strong from his injury. Bet Munchak can coach him up a lot, I like what I have seen of this kid.

I am thinking just the same, Velasco depending
on his health HAS TO BE A HIGH PRORITY!
