I'm hearing so much love for Ha Ha and none for Pryor.

I like Calvin Pryor @ FS, at this point I even like him better than Ha Ha........ I'm probably alone here but I'm putting it on record.

Both are solid options, but I lika HaHa MUCH better for the Steelers.

Shamarko Thomas is going to take Troy's spot when he retires, as a safety that plays close to the line of scrimmage, and Thomas strength is in run support. He has good technique but will struggle in coverage with his lack of height.

Haha would be a great compliment to Shamarko because he's a rangy center-fielder type of safety. The two of them would cover each others weaknesses and allow them to do what they do best.

Pryor is more like a better version of Shamarko. The two of them together could knock some heads off over the middle and play the run, but both would struggle in coverage.

I'm pretty torn between the two honestly, but I'll say that I'm not a fan of taking a safety at #15 this year. I hope this position is addressed in free agency.

I watched a lot of Pryor, and I like him...though, he left me with question marks. He plays with aggression, he's a mean hitter, he reads the QB well, and he covers the field really well. I didn't really see Pryor have any issues in coverage in the games I watched. I did see inconsistency in his play, though. One game he looked like a top 1st round pick, the next he was missing tackles and get clobbered by blockers. Everybody has a bad game, and maybe that was his.

Here's a nice example of his ball awareness in coverage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=h6FlQ1MYk6w#t=43

You are not alone...but the only way I am taking either of them is they fall to us in the 2nd round.

There's no point in drafting a safety in the 1st rd unless he makes a bunch of plays on the ball. As far as I can tell, neither of these guys qualifies.

I'd take either one but prefer Pryor if we trade down. Neither one @ 15. I also think Pryor can play either FS or SS at the next level. I think he's a better FS but that's just me.

I have watched every game dix has played some in person. he has great instincts and ball skills. I have only seen pryor a few times. I have seen the "experts" say that he doesn't play fast and doesn't have very good speed. I don't know. I have said I want dix. I don't care if its at 15 or trade back. I don't see how it can be a bad pick. he could be our safety for the next 12 years. that is a home run to me.

I wouldn't take either of them in the first round. The Safety I like is Deone Bucannon who has more size and is a big hitter, I would take him in the 2nd.

I would rather have a sure tackler and cover guy than a big hitter. we need a safety that call play the ball in the air not the man

With Shark as the SS going forward, a "true" FS guy would be a better option than a hard hitting FS/SS. It's not like Dix doesn't pop ya when he hits either, he just isn't like Pryor in that regard. I really like Dix, and he could probably start for us in 2014 if he's our pick at 15.

Why?!!!! Why is Shark the SS going forward? Why is a true FS better?

When Shark was drafted he was drafted as the future replace of Clark ( FS). Evidenced by the fact the camp previous Tomlin told Clark he was going to draft a safety to replace him, Clark contract was to run out 1st( compared to troy) and Sharks attributes coming into camp was he's a big hitter with great cover skills ( sounds like a FS) and he did spend a lot of his snaps this year in coverage. I know shark is listed as Troys back-up @ SS. Shark can play both.

Pryor- Remember earlier in the year it was publicized Colbert and his staff going to watch a Louisville Game in person. People mentioned maybe he was there to watch Bridgewater, I suggest it was to watch Pryor because Clark was in his last year and Troy in his next to last year. Pryor fits the steelers. So does Dix but Dix has "Zero" chance to reach us in Rd 2. Sorry but @ 15 I want another Troy or Reed or Thomas.... not Dix. I know Pryor isn't dropping to us in Rd 2 so maybe a look into Jimmie or deonne would be better for the Steelers.

Gilbert R1 & Pryor Rd 2 would be a home run.....Time to wheel & Deal Colbert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can put me into the camp that thinks Shark is more of a SS. I just think his skills are more of an in the box kind of guy. I don't know if I like his height jumping for deep balls down the middle of the field.

I'm going to agree & disagree..... Shark is currently listed as a SS only because of his Height. Keep his skillset as is and make him 6'0" and he's instantly your starting FS. Fact is he is short, that's why he dropped to us( should have gone in the 3rd) and his career may be in the box but I truly believe if needed he can move to FS. He has ballhawking skills and speed to cover the field and a desire to hit someone hard, like a human missile.

My main point is this, Shark & Pryor would make a good tandem.

I agree Cajun. shark is a very good cover man. no reason to pigeon hole him at SS. he's got some hops too. not a fan of either or any of the safeties this year early. I think it's a FA all the way and I have a strange feeling about an NC guy late. whether red or blue?

I would be surprised if Thomas is a free safety. He might be, but it would just surprise me.

Bucannon had 15 career ints so he's more than just a big hitter, just like Kam Chancellor of Seattle he does both for them.

Shark CAN play both, it doesn't mean he should (or that he should start at his secondary position). It is just my opinion that (based off of his college tape, and his height) that his skill set is more natural to the SS position. His place on the Steelers depth chart reflects what position the coaches like him at too. He is a SS who is FS capable... meaning that he is a SS that has the ability to fill in at FS in a pinch.

I do not like him as a long term solution at FS for a multitude of reasons. Number one being his height. Yes, he can cover, but he is also very effective in the box as well. Why waste that part of his game by playing him 20+ yards from the line of scrimmage in most zone coverages? I want a "true" FS to allow Shark to utilize his talents to his maximum potential. Also having two safeties that have games too similar to one another will affect one aspect of our game.

If the Steelers truly felt that he was the FS of the future for this team, they wouldn't be inquiring about Delmas or any other free agent FS that is of "starting caliber". We should sign a FA to start at FS on a 2 or 3 year contract, draft a back up FS (rounds 2-4) and start Troy at SS. Shark will play back up FS and possibly some nickel back since we blow at the CB position. Then let Troy walk after the season and begin the Shamarko Thomas era as the starting SS of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
