What if due to a run on QBs and OTs Clowny drops to say #8.?

Would it be worth trading next years #2 to trade up and get him?

Imagine a line with with Heyward-Woods-McLendon-Clowney. We could sign Hood to a lower contract or let him go.

Woodley can go as can Foote. LBers are Timmons-Vince-JJ

    Just a thought,

Are we switching to a 4-3 Defense?

No way Clowney gets out of the Top 3. But hypothetically speaking, yes, there's probably a point at somewhere where you say if he drops this far you take him. Even though he can physically play in a 3-4, I still think its best that he goes to a 4-3 team.

Not to get into a 3-4 vs 4-3 debate but if I could draft clowney I'd switch to a 4-3 right then. It's been said Clowney can play either scheme and maybe so, I'd just love to see us in a 4-3 with Clowney as our DE on one side and Heyward on the other.

Remember the 17-0 Patsies blowing everyone out until they hit that Giant 4-3 DL in the SB. I'm in my 50's and remember the Steel Curtain and it's been long enough that a return to that style won't cause fans to confuse this team with those of years past.

I know but a man can dream, right?

He's a First Pick Talent and though it's unreal he slides to # 8 it is possible he slides to Atlanta @ 6, unlikely as it is.After that, atl,TB,MInn,Buff will be fighting for him.

if we could move up and get him for next years #2, the do it. in my opinion he is a better version of Julius peppers. he can play olb for us and be dominate. on passing downs let him play de. I am telling you that one on one he will beat his man almost every time. he would be what troy use to be for us. the offense will have to double him and account for him on every play he is on the field.

    Nope.

I was surprised how few would move up to get Matthews in my similar scenario a while back.

No he's a 4/3 DE and the Steelers have no shot at him also he doesn't fit their defense. I never seen a player who had 3 sacks in his final college season get so much hype.

I think he could easily play either defense...he is just too athletic to not be able to.

I tell you what, the way he barrels through people so easily... reminds me of only 2 people. Reggie White and Mean Joe Greene.

JJ is not a 4-3 lber and changing sets us way back.

I seen him play and he didn't do nothing was supposed to be a Heisman trophy candidate and he coasted last season.

the Heisman is a joke. if you seen him play you know he was doubled 90% of the time. even the so called experts are saying that.

Yes, absolutely you trade up to get him if he falls that far... you don't even think twice. A prospect like this comes along MAYBE once a decade. I'd be surprised if he did anything less than dominate for his entire NFL career.
