    Safety-

    Malcolm Jenkins

Former 1st round pick that hasn't lived up to expectations. Could a change of scenery help?

    Nate Allen

Former 2nd round pick that could be had on the cheap. Does he fit what we do?

    Louis Delmas

Former 2nd round pick cut for financial reasons. Injury concerns?

    Wide Receiver-

    Hakeem Nicks

Productive when not nursing an injury. True #1 size and ability. Can he stay healthy?

    Kenny Britt

    See Nicks

    Cornerback-

    Nolan Carroll

I liked him coming out a few years ago. Plays through injuries. Was a solid #2 for the fins in '13.

    Walter Thurmond

Solid nickel for the 'hawks. Could be a solid contributor but.. Can he put the marijuana away?

These are the positions that I believe the Steelers will focus on in FA. It seems that we like to sign under the radar types to give ourselves more flexibility come draft time.

    Thoughts?

I believe bringing in a parade of free agent safety's would be fine with me. Someone with sure hands and coverage skills. Time to put the hitter clause behind and look for a pure coverage safety. Jenkins intrigues me.

Nicks was in a contract year last season and played like S^%#. He will not come cheap and I would pass. Plus as stated, Nicked up a lot  Britt I would take a look see on, only 25, a big target. He states he wants to be a #1, but will not come cheap.
I would hope the Steelers bring Moye along, now there is a big target.

Allen and Gay will be the starters this season. Ike will be released. A corner will be drafted early and will see the field on Defense. Need depth for sure and I believe secondary will be paramount in this years draft. Carroll is someone I would look at, and if signed, he should start over Gay. LeBeau needs to get into the 21st century and get young guns on the field sooner. Time is of the essence with the way rook contracts are structured now. Can't have another gaff like letting Lewis walk either.

I would take a chance on Jenkins he's still young and probably has some good football left in him. Britt is a knucklehead too many run ins with law and Nicks had too many nagging injuries and he' looking to get paid we can't afford him. Delmas is worth a look.

Nicks will definitely get overpaid by someone, like greg jennings

One guy that I like that I haven't heard mentioned is Vincent Rey, LB Bengals. I think he was better than Maaluga when he filled in.

I think Terrance Cody NT of the Ravens maybe a free agent, I would think about signing him and it hurts the depth of a division rival.
