I'm assuming we get a 3rd round comp pick for Wallace and a 5th round pick for Lewis

    1st- Eric Ebron TE UNC

Yes I'm still sticking with him. Big time mismatch with WR skills in a 6'4 250 lb frame.

    2nd- Jordan Matthews WR Vandy

Still sticking with him too. Polished with good hands. Not just a jump ball WR

3rd comp- Keith McGill CB Utah

Big, long CB in the Seattle Seahawk mode. Hey everyone wants one and he's more than just tall

4th- Terrence Brooks FS Fla St

Tall, rangy FS with great ball skills. True "centerfielder" in the defensive backfield

    5th- Pierre Desir CB Linwood

Another big, long CB in The Seattle mode. Raw but talented

5th comp- Raijon Neal RB Tennessee

Solid production playing against some big-time defenses. Great balance with some shiftiness

6th- Austin Wentworth T Fresno St

Good pass protector in a passing league. Good developmental LT prospect

    7th- Beau Allen NT Wisconsin

Thick NT from Big 10. Great motor for a big man

It's early in the process but this is where I'm at right now..

I don't see them going TE in the first round, I read they may extend Heath Miller's contract he still probably has 3 or 4 more good years left. He's not the athletic get down the field type TE but Miller can still play at a high level. I think the rest of your mock fills some needs.

While I have a hard time seeing them go offense/offense in the first two rounds, I actually think there's a lot of awesome in that mock. The first two rounds seem a little bit like a we're spending all our lunch money on candy, instead of spending it on what it's for. Having said that, those two make the offense a $&%*ton better and pay immediate dividends.

I think CB is a position that the team may very well double up on, and I really like Desir and McGill. McGill would fit well in Seattle like you said, but how well will he fit here? I didn't see him playing in zone coverage in the games I watched.

I haven't watched much of Brooks, but he seemed pretty solid. I haven't seen any of Neal, but I know he doesn't have much wear on his tires. That's good.

Good work Numbah. This is one of the few mocks I've seen that doesn't contain a pick that I absolutely hate  haha

I like that you selected 2 CB's. I think Taylor is likely cut to save 7mil in cap space, so we only have 2 NFL caliber CB's on our team. One of these rooks will start (either as CB or nickel back) and the other will be CB4. CB5 can be a ST player. Love the Matthews pick, he is a stud. While I don't think the Steelers will take a TE in the first round, you picked the right one if we did haha Brooks pick is good too. Don't know much about your 6th or 7th picks, but they fill positions of need in terms of depth... so I'd be cool with it.

Love the first 5, I have to familiarize myself with 5 comp, 6 & 7. I think I'd go LB for 5th round comp though, I like the positions for 6 & 7 but like I said, don't know anything about those guys.

I don't hate your mock but I don't want a te in round 1. I think we have bigger needs and this a deep draft for te's according to experts. I think we need defense a lot more. I can tell you that neal is not a real good running back. he doesn't hit the hole and tries to bounce everything outside. I know he didn't have coaching down here but they couldn't get him to do it

Well done Numbah 58, quality talent
in that mock. I think they will go defense
in round 1 and possibly 2. But until they finish
negotiating with a lot of players I just can't
pin point which way they will go.

Thanks, bud! I knew coaching the lifer's at the Women's Prison would pay off someday!

I've got quite a bit of work to do still in the long run, but I'll have a mock up soon.

Nice! I'd like it even more if we can fix ILB in house (Williams, Spence ,Garvin) or maybe some of the tougher cuts they made at ILB last year(McFadden,Rolle) really stepping up to take the job. I don't know much about the RB from Tenn. but either way I'd take Archer or DAT for more of a versatile speed guy in the 5th. Other than that where do I sign....

While I would love to go defense the first two rounds (and three through seven, also) the number of mock drafts that I have run on simulators (fanspeak, first-pick) that have best players available in the first two rounds that keep coming up te/wr or wr/te (usually ebron/benjamin or evans/safferian-jenkins) is amazing. and I can't say I would be upset.

I like it! I'm leaning defense, specifically secondary, in the first two rounds and then we grab another receiver, which this draft is pretty deep in. I don't think there is any way we go offense in the first two but I love the way your mock is structured in that we've grabbed two great skill players the first two followed by three strong secondary players in rounds three through five. Nice job overall.

Like chess there are many strategies when drafting. Yours is one of them. Its drafting offensive weapons early in place of defensive starters. I don't think Ebron is the next Bronk so I'm not crazy with this one. If I was employing your draft strategy I'd go with the #1 WR on the board @ 15 then top TE in Rd 2.

I also feel CB Pierre Desir from Lindenwood is climbing the boards and will be gone by rd 5 now. I currently have him as a 3rd rd talent, pre-combine.

I do like doubling up on CBs and getting a S, a OT for munchak to work with and we're gonna have to address the RB in this draft somewhere.

I'm going TE first because I believe that Ebron, Amaro and Seferian-Jenkins will be gone by our pick in the 2nd. I feel that they are MUCH more talented than the 2nd tier of TE's.. The WR class is much different IMO.. 2nd tier WR's are as NFL ready as the 1st rounders. Guys like Allen Robinson, Kelvin Benjamin, Davante Adams, Jordan Matthews, Donte Moncrief could/should be available in the 2nd. We just disagree on Ebron, I think he would be a special player for us.

it's definitely solid, just not my preference at the top. I'm concerned with guys with potential like desir and the only reason I am is because we are in such dire straights at CB. I'd almost have to go with guys from more seasoned programs because of this fact. more of a not want to but have to. just the coaching and what he saw and played against in college. if we had a 3rd or 4th guy in place I would take that shot but, we don't have that luxury right now. I could be looking at him wrong but that's why I'm leaning that way.

I like going playmakers and difference makers early. Do you think Desir will be around that late or is it a little wishful thinking?

The 2 CB's are nice...made me think that way when doing my mock.

I like the guys I know (don't know much about the last 3 guys) and this could make our offense scary good. If we can add some D help through free agency that could add depth this year then this would work for me draftwise.

Looking forward to your updates and analysis over the next couple months!

I think for the reasons that mac stated Desir may be around that late. It's been discussed that he might not run a blazing 40 and that could allow him to fall as well. From what I've seen of him he has excellent anticipation, good ball skills and a willingness to put his hat in the mix. With his raw abilities and Carnell Lake coaching him up I think he could be a nice addition.

To ask for 2 CB's to come in and contribute right away on defense from one draft is asking a lot. As far as ST's, I think he could be a solid player sooner than later. I have a hunch that we may also address this position with an affordable option in FA. That would allow Desir to come along a bit more slowly IMO.

I love the first 5, and I mean that I love it. The others I'm not familiar with enough to comment on.

Obviously I differ with you on Ebron.

That being said, if we don't go WR in Round 1, then yes, Jordan Matthews is the perfect pick in Round 2 if he is still hanging around.

If we could get 2 out of the group of McGill, Jean-Baptister & Desir) that would be fantastic. I would settle for atleast one of them though.

I LOVE Terrence Brooks. I have him targeted with our eventual 3rd round comp pick. I think he has starter written all over him. To play centerfield for the national champs speaks volumes. I'm also with you on Wentworth. Really like him as a developmental guy.

Good choice with Allen. Really hard worker. Limited skill set but enough tenacity to get over the hump.

I know alot of people are thinking about RB, but it depends how FA shakes out. I see no reason not to bring back Dwyer & LSH. If that's the case, I don't think we need to burn a draft pick when we can use it on another defensive pick. Bell is the bellcow. We just need competent backups. That being said, I have Beau Blakenship on my radar. Kind of a Danny Woodhead-type.

If Ebron can be the next Gronk it'll be great. Honestly we just don't know. He has the athletic ability and frame. He isn't a good blocker but with coaching and strength training who knows. Wr class is deep.
