heck there was a documentery about the guy that finally got busted in miami that was the main guy flying coke into florida at the time. it was on discovery or one of those channels. the steelers came to his house the night before the SB and said wheres the good stuff. they partied there all night doing blow and even he was amazed they could do that and play a big game like that. it even showed highlights of the game. it went on well after that too. rod was famous even after leaving the steelers of having the best parties. he kept his house in pittsburgh and they all went there. it's out there about all this. it's no secret. i lived in miami in 82 and 83 and yes it was everywhere even then still. it was the hotspot. i've mentioned this before on here and know for a fact it's true.

Everyone likes to think of cocaine as a junkie drug, but it really isn't. Cocaine is a rich mans drug. Athletes, businessmen and other people who make a good living are the biggest users of cocaine. Junkies looking for their next fix will gladly do coke, but it's expensive and doesn't result in the kind of intense high they are seeking.

I have no doubt past Steelers have done coke and it would shock me if some current Steelers don't also do coke. Coke is also a favourite drug of cops, jail guards, firefighters, lawyers, etc.

Chances are most of you have friends or family members that do or have done coke, you just may not know it.

I bet you're talking about Cocaine Cowboys? I think darcrav was talking about it too. Are you saying they went there the night before Super Bowl 13 and when you say "the Steelers" how many players are we talking about? I do remember hearing you say that you had negative thoughts about Rod Woodson but I never knew exactly why.

    :lolol:

Well I don't know about milk duds but I agree with aerosteel, I think drug use was pretty prevalent around the league in those days.

Back in the 80s, in Orange County, CA. Specifically, Newport Beach, almost everyone was doing the marching powder. Friends of mine used to go to bars with an empty vial in their shirt pocket just to pick up girls. Perception. Back then, the saying in Newport Beach was that there were only 2 kinds of girls..........coke whores and drug sluts! Tons of May-December relationships with the wealthy old Orange County guys and the 20 something girls...............................until the blow ran out, the guys went bankrupt, or both!

The year was 1991. The buffalo bills where playing the giants in Tampa. The party that ensues during the Super Bowl is one will always marvel to witness.

A family that has always been good to me with a very Italian last name tells me a tale of this Super Bowl. Being a bit of a drug dealer and by bit I mean say a new rental car weekly the father pushed some "items" to the hotel that the bills players where staying.

I currently live in Tampa an the story is as follows:

Those fu cking Bills players fed my family for 10 months with the amount of coke they bought. (3 kids and a wife)

Honestly, ive heard it from his mouth and others. If you don't think that's these players enjoy themselves you are mistaken.

If you don't think some of those pro bowl player had a little hangover you're nuts.

I doubt that, there was no testing in the 70's, was there?

Don't know, but it's very easy to pass a urine test and Coke, weed,Heroin aren't detectable via blood test after a couple of days.

Bill Walsh talked about Henderson in his book years ago. He said that when Henderson was clean he was so talented that he could even cover the WR's and shut them out. He was that good. Unfortunately, he let drugs destroy his career ala Joe Gilliam.

No kidding?! He actually said he buried the name "Hollywood" with his addiction though. Apparently he is now just Thomas Henderson.

They are all just human beings, with the same wants and needs, and weaknesses, as the rest of us, no matter what kinda pedestal we all want to put them on...
For better, or for worse, they have the means to make all their desires/fantasies come true...
Especially, the ones that a lot of young men, would love to do, but, normally don`t have the means, to accomplish.
    I can`t fault them.
Actually, the only thing that made me reply to this, is the fact that my local radio station posed a trivia question, within the last week, about, "What did, Doc Ellis accomplish, that no other Major League Pitcher, ever did?"...
    The answer, was...
He threw a complete game, no-hitter, while under the influence of "L.S.D"...
    UN-FRIEKING-BELIEVABLE!!!!
To anyone who has never tried acid, you would never understand how incredibly, amazingly difficult, it would be, to maintain your focus, and even finish the game, let alone, throw a no-hitter...
To the rest of ya... WOW! That guy kicked sum major league ass!!!!... LOL... :roflmao:..
And the kicker was, I just saw a Robin Williams special, where he referenced that, two nights ago...
It was a recording of the "Weapons of Self Destruction" tour...
LMAO... Drugs are bad... Coincidenses are cool, M`Kay?!...LOL!
    GO STEELERS!

Bet it's less just because there is testing now. Also depends on frequency of use, weed can be detected up to 2 weeks. Santonio was caught a couple times for using weed. If you use a hair follicle test, heroin can be detected up to 90 days. Also, players have a lot more to lose if they get caught now.

And I'd definitely bet guys aren't doping on game day like they did back then.

weed can be detected for 30 days. the NFL also only tests at the beginning of the year now, unless there was a previous positive. at least thats what jerome said. if they come to camp clean, had no priors, they can party it up all year. hair foicle testing can detect for alot longer than that BF. as far as the pi** test, they are only looking for certain hits. there could be other types of drugs in their systems that are not on the list, that won't show up simply because they are not looking for them.

From what I've read they are unobserved urine tests. If you do drugs and can't figure out how to pass an unobserved urine test then you're a complete dumbass and deserve whatever punishment is doled out.
