The Steelers front office screwed this signing up he's scheduled to count over 11 million against the 2014 salary cap. Ike hasn't been the same since Demaryius Thomas burned him repeatedly in that playoff game in 2011. There's no way a CB who can't catch deserves that kind of money, only a playmaking shutdown CB should get a contract like that. He will be asked to take a significant pay cut or be released.

I think when they signed him to this deal they thought he would have retired by now.

If he retires does that reduce his cap hit?

If he retires, as a rule it ultimately has the same salary cap implications as if he were cut. Cutting him saves $7 Mil.

that still leaves 4 mil. in dead money plus the hit for whomever replaces him. this is corez allen's final year too i believe. don't forget colon is still on the books for 4 mil.. could ike be a june 1 cut?

with Ike and Lamarr both working out with Tommy Shaw
I can see their theme song being "The Grand Illusion"

    unfortunately
their salary hits are more like "Masters of Reality"

either one can be a june 1st cut

god knows both contracts need overhauled

    I lean towards keeping Ike

just wish we had someone who could step up with certainty

    argh
