Does this tell us that a) there's no change in the big D coaching positions this year, b) there might be a change but Olsavsky wasn't figuring in the plans, or c) nothing about our situation, he's just going for the kind of job he wants at this point in his coaching career?

I'd say c is most certain, a is a close second.

Probably just looking to advance his career. Could be that he's seen Butler strung along and doesn't want to pass up an opportunity ?

This is hilarious! I'm just gonna make some popcorn and wait on Jack! LOL! I really just think he probably feels like he will stand a greater chance of going higher up the ranks there. If Pittsburgh has so many positions sorta "set in stone" I wouldn't blame coaches for wanting to go where there's maybe a little more opportunity for advancement. Seems like to me the highest rungs of the ladder besides being HC is being either OC or DC as far as finances are concerned so maybe that's what he's thinking about.

    :lolol:

I think it's just like the article says, that he has wanted a full time coaching position.

    (plus Haley is a dick)

Actually, Blast may be onto something. Rumor has it that Chuck Cunningham, the mysterious big brother on Happy Days, left the show because of Haley. Unconfirmed at this point but it wouldn't surprise me given the fact that he's a (slang word for the male anatomy). :roflmao:

maybe foote gets that assistant job here. I've mentioned him doing that here. he knows the D well and has been helping with Timmons and the young guys added this year, so he's familiar to everyone here. now the part I'm not sure about with him is what jerry did as far as plotting other teams and players tendencies for the game plans. jerry O. really hadn't been doing it that long either. the replacement will most likely have to do both to take jerry o's place.

I used to eat breakfast with a cousin of jerry's. he was a local HS coach around here. jerry and his size were like kordell, would have probably worked out better now then when they played. they were before their time.

Are you saying that you think they will offer Foote a job on the staff and he will retire as a player? Was this the last year of his contract?

if he could do the job jerry o was doing why not? there is no guarantee larry will be back as a player. if it's as a 4th ilb and mostly coaching up the young guys, it could save a roster spot for another player. remember larry doesn't pla ST's either. he helped them a lot this year. with garvin and Williams playing better as the year went on, I wouldn't mind this happening, if.

Foote was a liability to me anyway. We just need someone that can reliably call the signals. Didn't Williams wind up doing a lot of that this year?

so did Timmons. foote was more of a help with the rookies as far as tendencies and a lot of little things, like a coach would. Williams talked about it on something I read. i'll try to find it. larry has a ton of miles on him.

Yeah it's nothing personal about him I just don't see him being a good gamebreaking lb. I know that we need a vet presence on the field but we also need guys that can still perform at a high level.

With Doug Whaley running the show
up in Buffalo, i could see Jerry O moving on.
