Yeah, I thought he was the coolest coach ever too when growing up and loved when he wagged his finger in Glanvilles face.

    Happy Birthday Coach Noll!

    He and Joe
    Greene saved the Steeler

    Happy Birthday Chuck!

I drive by your house every time I'm in Pittsburgh since I lived in the same zip code and point out to my wife and kids that inside that house is one of the greatest coaches of all time.

I remember the day he signed my black&gold brigade hat. I was the last one to get his autograph before he coached his last home game.

I said good luck today coach, as he signed it and he said you think we'll win today. I said I know we'll win today. he smiled and said there you go as he handed it to me and I thanked him. he said your quite welcome and went into the building. I will never forget that. happy B-Day coach. you were the best.:applaud::cool:

That's a great memory. Another great memory I have of Noll is Super Bowl XIV against the Rams. The Steelers were behind going into the half and as Noll was walking off the field, a cameraman stuck a camera in his face and began walking backward. When he did that, Noll began to jog and then to run as the cameraman was running backward trying to keep up. Noll began laughing at the guy for his efforts and seemed as cool as a cucumber. It was like he had the Rams right where he wanted them. The Steelers shut them out in the second half and won the game 31-19. Love the man.

Remember it well. My favorite SuperBowl of all time. I'll never forget the car horns going on for what seemed hours after the game.

I wonder how the Immortal Hall of Famer Coach Noll feels about the NFL today?

If it wasn't for Lombardi, the Super Bowl trophy would be the Noll Trophy.

And yet, he get's little respect as one of the greatest coaches ever.

But we as Steeler fans know...

Man if his mom's cervix would have held up for just ONE more day we would share the same birthday! Oh well. I'm close enough. I bet he tells everyone that he almost has the same birthday as BFT.

The last interview I ever saw Noll do was at halftime of a Steelers Monday night game in the mid-90s. He was talking about free agency and how tough it is now to be consistently competitive given that, with free agency, every team now has a graduating class that they have to contend with. Pretty profound statement I thought. I got the impression that Noll would not enjoy coaching in today's NFL with all of the "Shield Mercenaries" in the league today that have no loyalty to the team that drafted them and gave them an opportunity. Long gone are the days when the Steelers had a roster of 100% home grown players where no player on their roster had ever played for another team.

I think thats a very unrealistic way to look at it. If FA was around in the 70's, you would have seen players doing the same thing.
