Yes, that is a possibility. $5.51 Mil or so would count as dead money in '14, but it would provide a little over $8.5Mil in cap relief.

Jones had a chance to get his feet wet in his first season and I think he's well liked by all ..weight strength and development of play will come! He has my vote as a Steeler.

Definitely. It took Worilds four years to see the light we can at least give Jarvis Jones two years.

I know Worilds is going to go but it would be good to see him stay, I just wish something could be done with Woodley, he is beginning to remind me of, a better version of Albert Haynesworth, played lights out for 2 seasons and got a big contract and did nothing. In fact I don't think anyone on defense should be looking for more money next year, they all played poorly for the most part. As for Troy, I think the injury to Larry Foote really hurt him in that he was playing LBer as well as safety and it is a big reason he was out of position but it is apparent the Ike Taylor can no longer cover anyone one on one without help. JJ needs time, he has shown that he can play, he just needs a little more time in the weight room, I think next season he will have a break out year.

I don't get the hate towards JJ. He is a rookie. What did you expect? He has shown flashes of good and bad moments, like most young players. My concern with the LB's has to do with one person Woodley. He is close to one of my favorite Steelers but right now he is not earning his salary. Not sure if we can restructure his contract to make it more cap friendly or if we trade him. The concern is that his injury history is usually soft tissue related instead of broken bones, knees etc.

there is a lot more to the left side and the right side then people think. it's a lot more then just rushing the passer against a RT vs. a LT. two completely different position skill levels are needed.

i think if DL is done than Jones will have a better shot at developing quicker. how many rookies step right into his system and do good? it usually takes 3 to 4 years for guys to really do well in his system.

to me that is a huge problem for a team that has money issues. when they draft a guy and sign him to a 3 to 5 year deal and they cant even get on the field until their 3rd or 4th year its a bad situation.

his system is to complicated for the young players to figure out, but every team in the league has it figured out. something wrong with that.

I was hoping for more from Jones this season because he was a 1st rounder, but I can't give up on him after one year. He also came from a 3-4 team so there is no conversion from DE for him.

Even though he hardly has any stats to speak of he is always around the ball and close to making the splash play. Troy was kind of the same way his rookie year.

I didn't want to draft Jones because he wasn't similar to the typical ROLB's we have had going back 15 years. He just doesn't have the speed. He is going to have to learn a variety of pass rush moves and get stronger to be successful.

We need speed off the edge. It doesn't have to be Jones, but we need it from somewhere.

I don't think it's to complicated for them to figure out. JJ played in a similar defense in college and Williams picked it up pretty quick also this year.

it is however predicated on people knowing their job on any given play. t-roy makes it a lot harder on guys too, because of his freedom to work on the fly. this can easily get someone out of position.

you also have to realize we have an old team on D and these guys react to certain offensive sets a little different than the norm. they have seen so much that they react to things they have seen in the past more than thinking of the bad things it creates for new players. they are used to other older players covering when they get out of position, because they have seen so much of it and played together over the years.

if you notice, it's not usually the young guy that's out of position, but the old dogs and the young guy just keeps doing what he's been taught. much like the tannahill run, or the pryor run. jones was doing what he was supposed to be doing according to foote.

clark and t-roy and Timmons and ike have been the guys out of position and jumping routes, or getting sucked in on play action. when they were younger, other guys like ike and foote and farrior used to be fast enough to make up for these things. not so much anymore and it shows.

they have slowed down as a unit and it's much harder to see that they have slowed down as individual players, because they have slowed down together. it's not the scheme, or DL's defense, it's the players.

nobody wants to get rid of starters we have watched over the years. not as fans anyway, but we will find fault with the coaches and front office for holding on to players to long. one or the other have to happen. these players could be just as slow and old in a 4-3 defense too. age happens. losing a single step in this league can really hurt a defense, ours is defense wide, not just a player or two. our players can think and react to whats happening quickly but the old legs just don't get them to the right spot as before. smith, hoke, farrior,Harrison, keisel, troy, ike, clark, foote, hampton,Woodley,Timmons. that's a pretty good core, but not what they once were. most think wood and Timmons are young, but they will be going into their 8th season next year.

What I've seen is alot of confusion before the snap on defense. Most of the guys are moving around, pointing, directing people to move here, guys throwing their hands up to say "what do I do or where do I go" and every time I see it, I say to myself "somebody is going to be wide open" and low and behold it happens.

I do not care what the cap hit is; keep the better player.
Worilds needs to stay; he is simply better than Woodley now.
Jarvis Jones gets at least one more year to develop.

if they really like worilds they have to cut woodley and eat the dead money (maybe in two season using the june cut ). period

Cutting or trading Woodley doesn't help anything. We're on the hook for his guaranteed salary no matter what. If we were to cut him it would actually cost us another half million against the cap.

it does give us 2 years to divide it up, but then we have to add worilds new money and colons dead money. we have way to much invested in LB'ers right now. we are also way over the cap without to many players signed. we have to add players somehow to get to 53.

If they were to try the post june 1 cut they still have to make room to carry his full salary cap hit up to that point.

I think TTF should suspend everyone's membership until they acknowledge that Woodley's cap hit prevents him from being traded or cut. Lol.

The question is do we re-sign worilds............. My answer is yes because we have no other choice. We may even overpay him because we have no-one else. We may very well have to cut Troy, reduce Ike's salary or cut him if he refuses.

Levis will be cut, that's a 6 mil $ saving and the projected cap is up 3 mil.

I don't really get the negative comments on Worilds. His only downfall has been injurys and playing behind pro-bowl OLBers.
When called upon he has delivered every time and from either side. He is twice the OLB Jones is at this point. In fact Jones may never become a pro-bowl OLB, he's just too small/weak. He's fast and smart though so I can see him moving inside.
