ESPN reports that Gronkowski tore his ACL and damaged his MCL according to an MRI.

Sure was. That's probably the last place you want to take a shot like that.

That was the last straw for them. They had very little chance of doing much in the playoffs with their injuries on D. With Gronk out they are one and done in the playoffs.

Just as his foot planted too. No fan of the Pats but feel bad for Gronk.

This is what the NFL has created, nice job :applaud::facepalm:

Man, that is UGLY. I don't wish that on any player. If I didn't know any better I'd almost say he aimed for is knee. But, realistically he aimed low just because we know how King Roger likes to rule.

Not to derail this thread, but in order to save creating another one ... Does anyone have a link to a slow motion video of the onside kick?? I'd really like to see it, and haven't found it yet.

    Thanks in advance !!

Couldn't agree more. The NFL created this mess. Players have been going low since the beginning of the league, but in the past it was labelled dirty and their was backlash. Now, players can justify their low hits because if you go anywhere near the head you get flagged and fined.

I get that the NFL has been forced to do this because of all the phony lawsuits, but I hope all these players that get knee injuries also sue the NFL. The NFL was forced somewhat, but they overreacted. They could have altered the rules but told the refs do not throw a flag unless you see blatant head to head contact on a defenceless receiver. If the refs aren't certain of H2H, they shouldn't be throwing the flag.

The NFL is to blame for this mess.

Seen it quite a bit on the NFL network today. Seems to me like a Browns player did in fact touch it.

Yup, this is the game that the NFL has now created. DBs are forced to aim low rather than high. Its sickening!

to chat about the Patriots for a sec- funny how just about everyone on here will be rooting for them next weekend.

The Pats still have a chance, with 2 weeks left in the season, to be the #1 seed- and still have a chance- to not make the playoffs at all.
