I just done a really stupid thing and I don't know what I'm gonna be able to do to fix it. The baby has a little seat that she sits in to take a bath and I had run some water in the bathtub and took that out of the tub. Then I sit my phone in it and when I got done with the tub I set that seat back in there...you see where I'm going with this??? I then went in to the kitchen and said to myself. "I just set my phone in the bathtub..." So I go back in there and there it sat. So now it won't even come on. It's a Samsung Axiom and I've only had it a few months. What can I do? I got the phone on "points" or whatever but do you think the warranty is over or will I have to buy another phone at full price? Please can someone tell me what to do? That's the only phone I have.

Get in touch with the store you bought it at asap and see if you had any protection plan associated with it. Maybe they can help you out. If they can't help, contact your service company's customer support and explain the situation. You may end up having to buy another phone, but they might be able to cut you a good deal at least.

I hate to tell you, but most warranties don't cover water damage. If you bought a protection plan, that may cover water.

You could always try the rice trick, but I don't know how effective that is for smart phones.

Yeah I'm gonna find out today. My wife said we have an insurance plan so maybe it will cover it but she thinks if I need a new one that I will still probably have to pay $50. The phone was honestly pretty crappy anyway because sometimes when I'm on the phone with people they will just say that it's like I just stop talking and they literally can not hear me for a few seconds. Also sometimes when I would try to text I would try and use the little thing where it guesses what word you're gonna say and when I would do it it would erase the whole text and just put that word. It was REALLY annoying. I hate touchscreens because I'm and old school 80s guy and I like to push buttons. That screen has no "feel". I don't see how people get used to them really.

I've seen electronics that were submerged come back to life after completely drying out, but usually only there was no attempt to turn them on, and it's kind of rare for it to happen.

Some phones have some type of internal reactive dye or other indicator to let a company know if there is water damage, so using the warranty may be out of the question if this phone has that "feature."

Yep the warranty doesn't cover water damage. So I have to call this line and tell them about it and pay $150 to get a new one!!! That's SOME kind of insurance when you have to pay THAT much of a deductible on a $499 phone. They said it will probably take like 3 days for me to get a new one. Man that's so lame.

Id throw it in the river and say you lost it (kinda true cause its gone and you should get a replacement for 50 instead of 150)

I once dropped my iPhone in beer. It was completely submerged and it sat in the beer for about 2-3 hours (long story, was extremely drunk, don't ask). After it dried out, it worked fine.

Different iPhone, I dropped it in water. Once it dried out, it was fine.

So the moral of the story for me is next time fill the bathtub with beer? LOL. That's weird that your phone worked after that though.

At a kids birthday party a few summers ago, one of the kids started struggling in the deep end. His father jumped in with his iPhone in his pocket. After a few days of drying out, it worked again.

Well just to let everyone know what would up happening was I had to pay a $100 deductible and chose to pay $15 to get it here tomorrow. What was really awesome was the fact that I had to talk to this lady that was OBVIOUSLY not American and I had to give her my credit card number and she was trying to read it back to me and it has 5 zero's in a row in it and they were REALLY throwing her for a loop! I seriously just lost it laughing and said "ok let's start over" and then she added even MORE zero's and did that like 3 times! LOLOLOLOL!!! It was almost worth my phone tearing up just for this experience. She finally got it right and we were both laughing and she was very relieved. LOL.
