I also love Heath but yes he has fallen out of top 10 TE category in my opinion and YES his blocking IS suspect at times because he is slow off foot. As a receiver he still gets open but the time it takes for him to get to a spot and the yards after a catch leave a little to be desired. It is time to find his replacement and NO that man is not on the roster. Furthermore Jimmy Graham types don't just appear every year

    Before you ask I believe:

    1/ Jason Witten
    2/ Jimmy Graham
    3/ Gronk
    4/ Vernon Davis
    5/ Owen Daniels
    6/ Antonio Gates
7/ Tony Gonzalez (even at age 37)

ARE ALL BETTER ESTABLISHED TIGHT ENDS

    1/ Julius Thomas
    2/ Jordan Reed
    3/ Tyler Eifert
    4/ Charles Clay
    5/ Coby Fleener
    6/ Jared Cook

ALL HAVE MORE UPSIDE AND MAY BE BETTER (I think Cook & Thomas are)

    1/ Dennis Pitta
    2/ Greg Olsen

I WOULDN'T ARGUE TOO HARD IF YOU TOOK THESE TWO OVER HEATH

Top 15 yes, top 10 not at all, time to find a replacement.

We need to draft Tyler Eifert with our first round pick, as it's an Offensive/TE-Matchup-Problem league. Oh wait, April has already passed and we drafted a LB...I forgot, sorry...

Yep, I commented on him in the game day thread, he's clearly not 100%. That said, I agree with you, Heath isn't done by a long shot, for crying out loud, he came back way sooner then anyone thought he was capable of, we need more Heaths, not less.

By all means, draft a TE but damn well better hold onto Heath, he's got some good years left.

And then there are Steeler fans that want to see change for the sake of change. Did Heath look like a liability last year? Don't know about you but he looked like a damn good weapon for us.

Exactly right. Heath isn't even a blip on the radar of problems that need to be fixed.

nothing has changed for me towards HEATH
everytime he catches the ball or is downfield making a crucial block to spring a runner
    i'm hollerin
    HEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAATTHHH!!!!!
    also
when ever he's caught a pass over the years I've also yelled in the same breath
    HOLD ON TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he is simply trying to get EVERYTHING out of the play.

there is no problem with that.

    like I said

    HE IS NOT DONE.

and let the problems continue. so what you guys want to see is them just wait until Heath is all used up before they get another guy that actually fits todays NFL. i never said he is done. i just dont think he is a playmaker anymore.

I wish we had the luxury of using a high draft pick on Ebron this year. I would love watching him play in the black and gold for the obvious reason of him being a Heel but I really think he's gonna be a stud in the NFL.

I would take a "wait and see" approach with Heath Miller. I hope his contract isn't coming up after this year. I would still draft a TE but I believe Heath still has some left in the tank. Not his most productive year but after coming off a major surgery, I would give him some time.

    A 60% Heath is better than a 100% Paulson.

I don't think it would hurt to bring a more athletic, field stretching TE in to complement Heath. But let me stress the complement part. He would not be replacing Heath. Heath is still not 100% but he will be and I think he's got 3-4 solid seasons left. He's the kind of guy you want on your team and on the field until the very end!

And I said go ahead and draft another TE, I was for drafting Eifert but Heath isn't close to done, he can still hurt teams, he's not a liability.

The problem is Heath's contract ... next year is the last year on his contract, in 2014 his cap hit is ~$9.5mil with about ~$2mil in dead money.

I hope they keep him, but it will likely be at a reduced rate, and will he accept that?

Heath, being Heath, will play in his spare time as a charitable voluntary act, I'm sure.

This. We need a TE that can stretch the field, but by no means is Heath trash. The game has just passed him by a little bit, or is in the process of passing him by. He's not done, but we do need to re-evaluate the type of TE this team needs

While I do think it would be a good idea to start grooming a new TE, and letting Heath bring him along, and while Heath isn't at 100%, I believe he still has a lot in the tank.

I have to say ,some of you guys pick the better guys and target them for the trash heap. I think that some contract adjustments may be in order for a few, but you need some of these leaders.
I think the front office is already started to address that last year and will continue as needed.

Heath is still favoring his knee, this shows when he has to twist or turn to catch the ball then turn again to run. He needs to heal more before they make a decision. I think he will get better with time. Next year we should see him be better and more productive.

He still is better than the rest and do think we should add a good tight end to play with him and not instead of him.

I agree JAD they cracked heath in the knees in the first couple of games back. he hasn't been the same since. he was not ready to come back fully and they knew blocking would be the hardest part for him to do.

of course until fully back his speed will suffer some. we have to remember he's a hard worker, but he still has a body that's been getting beat up for a lot of years. it will take time. those shots to the knees have caused setbacks, while he's been trying to play to early. I still saw him manhandling some guys sunday. he will be a give it all he has guy.

he may not be a top 10 TE this year but he will be again if he has anything to do with it. heath reminds me of a guy that would retire before he would hurt the team.

Why replace how about drafting a fast TE with good hands to complament his skills. I think Heath has several seasons left.
