I completely disagree. Wallace runs very lackluster route. His hands are questionable and he IS a one trick pony. I think C/B's can look right at him and know whether he is going to get the ball or not right when they line up at the LOS. He can't sell the disquise that he won't be involved in the play.

Tannehill is not the reason that Wallace is leading the NFL in dropped passes

Unless that QB rubs stickum on the ball for him, I'm not sure what difference it will make. He's been missing catches most receivers will make.

This. Mike has difficulty with the well-thrown ball and he almost never battles for the ball so he's not a throw-it-out-there-let-him-make-a-play kind of receiver either. On the last pass of the game for the Dolphins against Tampa he never came back for the ball he just stood there with his hands out watching Revis make a play.

He's a one-trick pony for the most part.

Wallace's play has declined. It's not unheard of after a big move (as the Eagles dream team found out en masse a few years ago).

I think many of the criticisms of Wallace while he was in Pittsburgh were based more on caricature than reality. But now he seems to be a shadow of the player he could have been, based on his first few years in the NFL. It's quite sad, really, but that's the path he chose.

I don't know, Thigpen. I know my criticisms of Wallace, and others said it too, was that he wasn't a good route runner, had below average hands, did not catch the ball at its highest point but trapped it against his body, did not fight for the ball, weak blocker, mentally checked out of games, etc. ALL of that is continuing to manifest itself in Miami. He has blazing speed and nothing much else to offer. Not sure how those criticisms are a caricature.

I bet he would make an excellent gunner on punts.

They were a caricature because, as with Mendenhall's dancing, they were highlighted at the expense of what Wallace did well. Listening to some people on this board made it astounding that any team would pay a dollar for him.

I agree, though, that what's happened in Miami is that his development just seems to have gone backwards. Whether that was always going to happen to him, whether the move to Miami had something to do with it, whether the holdout had something to do with it... I dunno. The good news is, it's Miami's problem now. But I'll still look back to the good games Wallace had with us and say: well, I was glad we had him in his prime.

Is that suppose to be upsetting? As long as the Steelers didn't pay him, I couldn't care less what the scrub makes.

Really, where'd you find that dropped pass stat?

    http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/drops/2013/

He's shown here with 3 official drops on 79 attempted passes. I don't doubt he had the dropsies here, but haven't seen him play in MIA much. 3 drops puts him in 43rd place based on # of drops and 166th place based on drop % according to sporting charts site. Like I said, I can't vouch for the accuracy, but that certainly doesn't seem that he's the leading pass dropper of the NFL.

What is sportingcharts? I've never heard of that. ProFootballFocus has him listed at 9 drops, tied for the most. They also have him tied for second most interceptions per target. His % caught is one of the poorest at 51.9%. Sanders is considerably better than that, and he's had his share of dropsies. Who's best in that category? Antonio Brown with 76.1%.

I see what you mean. I think Ben made Wallace look pretty good while he was here. Ben is a top flight, franchise, quarterback and knew how to utilize Wallace's speed and got him a pretty good payday in the process. I was honestly surprised (but not shocked) that the Dolphins (and Vikings too apparently) were willing to stroke Wallace a $60+ million check (which Wallace will never see, by the way) but then again they haven't won a Super Bowl since the early 70s and there is a reason for that.

I'm glad the diva is gone and I'll repeat what I said when he left. Mike Wallace has already seen his best seasons as an NFL player. Write it down.

The Dolphins are suckers Wallace cap hit for 2014 is around 17 million, and he's not even catching those deep passes for TD's like he did with the Steelers. It's a good thing he didn't accept the Steelers offer we already have too many overpaid under performing players.

I think the Vikings were looking at him much the way many fans here have viewed the loss of him, he would stretch the field and open up the underneath routes and force teams to take men out of the box against AP. I don't think they were looking at him as a legit number one receiver but I could be wrong.

I'm just a simple fan and don't know where some people find the accurate stats. I don't pay for stats sites, so I'm really not sure who has the best "stats". Thanks for the info though. I still have a feeling the QB plays an equally important role in some of those stats though.

But apparently they were willing to pay him number one receiver money. I don't think any team would sign a receiver to a $60 million contract and not expect him to be THE GUY. $60 million would be a pretty good payday to just be a decoy for AP.

That pretty much sums up the Vikings offense though. Everyone is a decoy for AP.

I saw that Revis pick on mnf, Wallace was in a bracket double coverage, with a safety over the top and revis underneath, for Wallace to catch that ball tanneyhill would have to put the ball on him perfectly, instead he threw it short and it was an easy pick, but Wallace hasn't been the game breaker Miami thought they was getting for 60 mill, Wallace is finding out it isn't easy catching the ball when your double coverage on every play, theres only 1 receiver that can do that consistantly, and that's calvin Johnson who unlike Wallace has the size to go along with his speed...

...and the hands, the route running ability, the desire to fight for the ball in traffic, the ability to stay focused mentally during the game, the effort to block for his teammates, the ability to catch the ball at its highest point, etc., etc., etc., ...
