If you took all the players that the Steelers let go over the last two seasons and made a team with them (or just starters), would they win more games than the current Steeler starters? Probably not, but take a look.

    QB- Batch/Leftwitch
    HB- Mendenhall/Batch
    WR- Wallace/Ward/Randel El
    T-Starks/Essax/Scott
    G-Kemo/Colon
    C-Legs
    TE- Saunders

    DE- Aaron Smith
    DT- Hampton/Tamu
    OLB- Harrison
    MLB- Farrior
    CB- Lewis
    SS- Mundy
    FS- Will Allen

    P- Butler

Yes there are some holes, but that is a pretty good representation of who all we lost over the last few seasons. We clearly didn't have many replacements ready to take over though...

Well, seeing that at least half these guys can't play anymore, I think the team you show would be in contention for the #1 overall pick this yr.

Well, to be fair it seems that about half the players on our current roster can't play anymore either.

The point is to show we lost a lot of starters the past two years and the guys we had to replace them aren't ready.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread. You do make a valid point but I believe there is enough talent on this team to win games. For whatever reason they're not responding to Tomlin's coaching style.

I think Tomlin definitely is in new territory now, and it is probably a learning experience for him....not having the leadership players to help guide the younger players.

But I really do think that it is personnel and personnel decisions over the past 2-3 years, whoever is making them. For example, we have seen a trend towards small quick receivers over physical receivers like Ward.

Here is a flash of truth. Guys like Ward/Burress/Washington were great blockers and help enable the running game. No receiver on the current team is a good blocker.

Stuff like that makes me lean more towards the players rather than the coaches...as I don't think coaches sudden lose the ability to coach.
