The guys at Steelers Depot thought Malecki had had a pretty good preseason. Some moves just make absolutely no sense!

He was an undersized backup who was there for depth. If you watch the earlier preseason games, he short-armed a handful of snaps. Not what an O-line coach wants to see from a backup center with 3 years under his belt.

Eh, it's basically a wash. One mediocre backup for another.

I believe Wallace is a position-flexible, smart player. I'm sure they had their eye on him in case he got cut. I'm not nuts about Malecki. He may look like Jim Otto next to Guy Whimper, but I sure as hell don't want to see him in a game.

I'm going with the coaches on this one.

Probably, but I can't really say since I've never seen Wallace (this Wallace) play.

I guess we had to have a 'Wallace" on the team.

I was reading about Wallace and it said the steelers were going to have Wallace in for a visit during the year he was drafted and they had interest in him then. it also said they thought malecki wasn't big enough and had short arms and that was the reason they cut him and brought in Wallace.

why the heck did we keep malecki around then if we had no interest in him? what in the heck is going on in the front offices mind with some of these players, kept until we are ready to play the first game, make the 53 and then cut them saying they weren't good enough to be on this team? hello, mcfly!!

shouldn't this have been done a couple of years ago if that's the case? bizzare goings on with these players when we already knew we had no depth prior to camp. then we keep these guys for a couple of years on the PS when we know good and well they have no future with us?

I like Wallace and he was good coming out of A&M, he has some better size, and strength (26 reps), but was not seen as a very good guard candidate. malecki was not seen as a good center candidate.

i'm really beginning to wonder who the heck is looking at this talent for us and making some of these decisions on players?

My thoughts exactly Mac!!! Who is mining the store? We had a Great B/U center in Legs. Smart, and played very well @ center even in the SB. You gonna let him go for a player you have no confidence in? Okay, say that was just a stopgap till the cuts happen and then sign a quality B/U so that's what they do.

Wallace? How is he different from Legs? Both are natural centers except Legs is a proven one and both struggle at OG.

    SMH!!!

Just think of the guys that made the final cut, had a party and felt great. Then the Turk comes and tells them that they have been cut!

I did not know they could that, seems the players union would have an issue with this, what does having 50 do to a teams cap and the rule of 51. It just seems this this against the CBA, I don't know.

as long as they have 53 on the roster before they play, what's the difference? they are picking up 3 other teams castoffs to fill these spots. all which will be members of the NFLPA. just not 53 they deemed worthy at the time. they had to submit a max of 53 to the league office by a certain date from the 75 they had for preseason at that time.
