Hmm... not what I thought was going to happen. Looks like we are comfortable enough with Iheanachor to determine that he's at very least the top back up. Cook will likely have a short leash if he gets the week 1 nod, as he's struggled pretty mightily in camp/preseason. This opens up a roster spot from my initial projection (likely the 4th qb, unfortunately).

Why do you always act like such a goofball?

Jones is coming off of neck surgery. He lost a ton of weight and muscle, and was just trying to see if he could still play. How the F is McCarthy going to get him to improve? He even missed some camp.

Falling on your sword for Tomlin again...

I wouldn't count this until Broderick Jones has met with the Dallas team doctors. Before the offseason started, I had Broderick Jones sitting out the entire year because of injury.

NFL insider Albert Breer reported that passing the physical exam is a critical piece to the deal officially going through. The health evaluation is highly scrutinized because Jones is recovering from spinal fusion surgery.

What happens if Pittsburgh gets down to their 53-man roster on Sunday and then Dallas tries to return him next week?

    Nope

You said a whole lot more than that including Fields would outperform Aaron Rodgers

Dont make me embarrass you by necro posting

Omar pulled off a magic trick for turning a guy who likely isn’t going to be in shape to play NFL football for most of this season into a top 100 draft pick.

Still better than any comp pick we would've received.

My guess is that it's still probably more than he's worth.

Particularly given the injury and the fact that it's probably going to take him a while to get his weight / strength back up. And even when he was healthy he was super-inconsistent.

    Good deal I think.

Moving up from the 4th to the 3rd (plus a day 3 pick) is more than the day 3 pick I assumed we'd get when I first heard.

And it will come next draft rather than 1 year later (if he got a comp pick at all).

We knew he was a high risk / high reward player when we drafted him.

Had the "tools", but played fewer games than Max I in college. And Max is also pretty raw.

Worth the gamble in the draft IMO. But this was a reasonable possibility. Better to get out and get something back than to hold on and end up with basically nothing.

We essentially decided Jones was gone when we drafted Max. It was just a question of whether he'd be gone before or after this season.

What does it mean when Fields looked his best when he was here?

    Just like Duck.

    Just like Mason.

    Just like Kenny.

Not exactly true with Wilson, but Wilson looked better here than in the few years before and the year after...when he didn't look like an NFL QB anymore.

Mitch looked terrible. Worse here than elsewhere.

What did we get for Dan Moore? He's still a starting LT.

I think it's important to remember that they get our 4th.

If they think they're going to be good and we're bad, maybe they think it's moving back 10-15 spots (optimistic for them I think). And they get to flip a coin on a high pedigree guy and good "tools" who plays a high value position.

The 6th doesn't matter too much.

Plus, there's always a shortage of OL. So having a surplus means you can trade them for half decent value.

3rd round comp after he left as a UFA. Comp picks come a year later.

The Maximum, a Comp 3rd round pick for letting Dan Moore walk.

I will admit I about fellow dead when I heard Dan signed a 4 year $82 million contract.

    A. Jones ends up being a career backup, we win the trade big time.
    B. Jones ends up being a serviceable starting lineman, the trade is good for both sides.
    C. Jones ends up being a stud offensive lineman, Dallas wins the trade big time.
