I would take Max any day over Whimper & Batiste. I really haven't seen enough out of Joe Long, but I can guarantee that Starks is better as of right now. Starks as our #8 OL, we could do worse.

    This!!!

Max is the only player to play every offensive snap last year. He is very intelligent and is a veteran. He had a poor camp in SD and got cut. The team made the right call moving forward with Beechum/Adams/Gilbert. After week one I'd cut someone, either wimper or move long to PS or whoever and sign max to vet min as emergency OT back-up.

He'd be in-active on gamedays but would be there this year to help our young OL grow as a mentor during the week and in the film room.

whimper has to be cut immediately otherwise you have to carry his salary for the season

max can't help them run the zone blocking scheme guys. he can't run block worth a diddly and no vet is going to make adams and gilberts feet move any faster. especially max. this is absurd, but will probably happen knowing Colbert and his mentality about our o-line. max needs to fade away. playing every down doesn't make him good. it just means he played at a low level every down. 8-8 remember.

Freak- you are right. The reason I said add Max after week one was for salary reasons. Wimper should be gone today for sure.

Mac- you are right, Max is not a zone blocking guy as I mentioned earlier. We are NOT an exclusively ZBS team. He can help in the film room and OL meetings and week-day practices and is better than any B/U OT we have, save Beechum,.

You can't blame 8-8 on starks.

who then should we blame our lack of a run game on? was he not a starter last year? he was here however for all those 40 plus sack years.

he is good at picking ben up off the ground after the play.

was he really that good at man blocking, seeing how we couldn't run the ball, that type of help these guys don't need. let our new o-line coach help them not max starks. heck he learned from larry Z.

    again he** no.:smiley1:

You all lost your minds, Starks is a has been, Whisenhunt knows him better than any coach in the league, and if he didn't keep him for a backup what makes you think he has ANYTHING left: There are younger LTs out there who have been cut who have more potential and upside than max, to waste a roster spot on a has been is at best malfeasance.....

I agree. I was never a Starks fan and didn't understand why Ben was so big on him all the time.

This team needs to replace Ike, Clark and Foote, before they can be SB ready, as in having the guys to stop the other teams passing game.

Troy won't last all year , which means more Gay which means the season is over with that piece of crap out there , Ike is garbage and Clark is average. Cortez Allen is the future and the Shark <( replaces Troy)

Actually one of my best buddies is a HUGE Chargers fan and the other day I told him that Phillip Rivers was gonna get killed this year if he had to depend on Starks because really their whole line is really crappy too. I'm sure he's breathing a sigh of relief right now as a fan.

fragel would help us in the future, but not sure this year. wait and see who's there later. maybe a guard is available? or a G/C type guy? or a G/T?

ried, brown and gaither are there.
