For all this talk on Kahn and Weidl being draft wizards, it looks as though R. Wilson and Kaleb Johnson are soon to be labeled busts.

You have to draft better than that in the third round.

Last draft I think they may have found a player in Everette.

Jury is out in Allar and Dunker.

I think at least part of it with Johnson was that he'd never really had any kind of chance.

He looked OK last night. But slow.

Mel Blount, Hines Ward and Joey Porter Sr. were 3rd round draft picks. I did not see any of that last night except Porter saying hello to Jr. on the sideline.

Kaleb Johnson reminds me of a bigger more lethargic version of Benny Snell. Benny was slow but fought for every inch he could get. Kaleb gets what is blocked for him and not an inch more.

Colbert once said that the Steelers draft players in the first three rounds to eventually be starters.

Steelers could have had Skattebo instead if they were that desperate for a RB.

I'm not sure Skattebo is going to have a long career.

The way he plays probably not. But no one can say he doesn't give it all on the field.

From everything I have seen in College and who was throwing to him I guilty of thinking he would be a slam dunk.
Maybe if they throw him short dink and dunk type throws he can at least be a #3 on the inside? Time will tell us all

I was pimping Skattebo all during the draft process, was so pissed we took KJ over him.

But seeing how dumb Skattebo is, he may have made a bad impression if our coaches ever talked to him.

    Okay?!

Darnell Washington is a Third Round Success; his contract extension being my proof. Time will tell on the likes of Dunker, Everette and Allar. Fair on Johnson and Wilson.

That said, pointing out two failed players, at this stage, is largely redundant. The NFL Draft, by its own design, is a crapshoot. Great players can be found in any round that even the NFL Draft Advisory Board misses out on. Those people are not seers; doubly so Khan and Weidl.

In short?! You win some and you lose some. I couldn't care less about losing some. I care a lot more about learning from those mistakes and mitigating the risks; better scouting.

Every third round pick from Cowher onward. It's clear the Steelers hit some dry spells in the last 20 years or so:

I think this was true of him last game.

But he's had such little work that I think it's hard to know if that's true on the whole.

I assume that since he basically needs to show that he's valuable on teams to make the team but they didn't give him any ST snaps, that they've given up on him.

But basically I assumed that we gave up on him right when we signed Dowdle.

My count had about 50/50. For Rd3 not too shabby.

Willing to give you Lewis although he wasn't a starter until his last season with PIT. Spaeth was in and out of the lineup. Injured often.

I can't believe you listed Mike Vrabel as a 3rd round success for the Steelers, as he was here for his 4 years and never started a single game. His career trajectory completely changed as soon as he left Pittsburgh.

What the Hell happened to Mike Vrabel after he left the Steelers? Talk about "I need to get the hell out of Pittsburgh" kind of guy!

He was a good draft pick, he just couldnt break into the lineup because we had a stacked room.

    Lloyd, Kirkland, Porter and Gildon.
