Did Felix Jones show enough to warrant a possible trade of a RB?

Looks like the Steelers will have a diffacult
time selecting which rb's they will be keeping.
When Bell comes back, (his boot is off) not enough
carries will be available for this stable of RB's. Lets hope
they can make a deal for a productive Steeler type player.
This is where your scouting department become invaluable.
Lets hope they have done their homework. Felix Jones
makes Dunn a goner. Leaves the Steelers with a
proven option and lets them keep another player we need at another position.

Dunn's gaffs in ST made Dunn a goner

I agree. I really think they tried to give Dunn every chance to make it. They were calling passing plays for him and didn't they even run a reverse with him too?

I just don't think he set himself apart like Moye did. I'm really excited about Moye.

I think it was a reverse. I remember it ended up in the positive yardage category, but can't remember any other details.

On a somewhat related note. WTF was Brown thinking calling for fair catches with nobody around him? Dunn may have made really stupid decisions, but at least he tried.

I really hope that if the decision comes down to Felix Jones or Jonathan Dwyer, we go with Dwyer. Jones was let go by the Cowboys and then traded to the Steelers for a player that may not even make an NFL team. That ought to tell you something about the guy in spite of the couple of flashes he may have had against second and third teamers.

I don't think that mistake is the deal breaker for Dunn, coaches know it was a desperation move to make something big happen to make the team. He is most likely gone though, I thought he'd make it but he just didn't make enough impact in these games. Of course, coaches see him in practice every day, that counts for something.

In a regular season game, I bet he doesn't make that play. As someone else said, he was just trying to make something happen and decided to take a chance. Bad play obviously, but if he makes it around that guy and breaks it up field for a big return, it's a different conversation.

I agree with you and BF - one play won't decide Dunn's career. However, he hasn't really shone in preseason (unlike Moye).

On topic: I'm not sure Jones has shown anything dramatically more than Dwyer or Redman. But I doubt we would get a trade for any of them. I'd rather we kept Jones around, though.

jones has practiced one week. dwyer doesn't have that excuse and as much as MT hates fumbles, dwyer didn't help himself. redman hasn't played, another pet peeve of MT's. Colbert isn't over last year nor did he think any of the 3 were the answer. (batch already gone). why all of a sudden neither of the two is cutable this year suprises me from most people.

I've already stated that LHS,jones, bell and alvester to begin the season until bell is healthy and then to the PS.

redman would be my pick if they keep one of them, but if they start the season they have to pay them the whole 1.3 mil. personally I may cut them both save the money and pick up a FA, just like we should for another o-lineman.

People keep talking about cutting Dwyer and saving the 1.3 but whoever takes his place on the roster is going to be making close to the same money or mabe more. This only works if you cut a high salary guy and replace him with a low salary guy. Dwyers 1.3 is insignificant.

Not necessarily. If as a hypothetical you're getting rid of Dwyer and Felix Jones is his replacement, Jones' 2013 cap hit is only $587,500. That's pretty significant if the team likes what they see in him. Personally, I don't think that's how it will play out.

I didn't see the game last night so this is based off the previous 3 pre-season games and previous years. I just think Dwyer will not make the team. Not sure why I feel that way just a gut feeling. I don't think Redman is helping his case by being hurt. I think it will be Bell, LSH, Jones and then either Redman or Dwyer.

Yeah but that only leaves a cap savings 700,000 and change. Not enough to extend one of our soon to be free agents or to sign another good player as some are suggesting.

    I see your point though.

I agree here. I was a dwyer supporter for along time but just watching him he just doesn't have the vision for an NFL running back and plus with the above stated reasons, I think he will be gone.

[h=2]Did Felix Jones show enough to warrant a possible trade of a RB? [/h]Nope, he would have to be a damn good Doctor in order to do that.

I say there's no way Dwyer gets cut. I'm not saying I think he's the future here or that he even really has a future here but I think he is definitely here for the present. I would be REALLY surprised if they cut Dwyer right now.

Mac, you'd be best not to bring up next year's possible cuts or who out the list of 10 to 12 we should re-sign, especially if you are looking for some sort of response. :smiley1:

I thought about doing a poll to see who folks preference it was to re-sign, but the polls are limited to only 10 choices max. :roflmao:
