    KFP
    Didn’t wait for sacks
    KFP
    Found sacks
Never seen a qb at pro level
That didn’t know the simple basics of being a qb
Looked like he never played that position a day in his life

Wilson giving up on the first pick wasn't a good look either. Shades of Pickens and DJ in that moment. I dont play defense.

Yeah if you suck as a player at least hustle your ass off if nothing else. Show the coaches some reason for keeping you.

Nfl suxks now. We are arguing over 2 or 3 String qb who will finish in 3rd place in there on division.

I can't remember which TE it was, Miller or McDonald that ran a defender down from behind on a 70 yard potential pick six and knocked the ball out just before the goal line. Thats how you hustle when you need to make an impact.

Speaking solely for myself on past steelers qb.

I felt Ben would be a franchise QB at the close of his first camp.

I felt Rudolph would be a competent back up at the close of his first camp.

I felt Pickett would be a bust and absolutely hated the pick. Some fans might recall me saying that on the old Planet Steeler board.

I think Allar will turn into one of the best 16 QB's in football.

While QB's typically do not turn out to be one of the best 16 QB's in football drafted in the first three rounds, to me they are not so hard to evaluate as the QB has the ball in his hands every snap. If you know what you are looking for you should hit more than you miss.

Look-- Howard is the type that looks good in shorts. But in a game day situation he is Mr. Check down Charlie and can be a bit intercetpion prone. He is sharp, but his arm is below average by staring at NFL QB standards. Which is why he plays the way he does. He is gun shy about throwing vs. man coverage.

I believe that was Vance Animal that did that.

Good breakdown and analysis on the two interceptions thrown by Howard.

that was Patriot TE Benjamin Watson that ran down Champ Bailey on a 100 yard interception in 2006, knocking him out at the 1 yard line and the Broncos didn't score on the drive!

Thats fascinating but I was talking about it because it did happen in a Steeler game.

It was Vance like blast said. I thought it was an interception but it was a blocked kick.

I agree Will got schooled on the first interception, but Roman drifts on both routes which allowed the defender(S) to get into a position that should not have taken place. If Roman was indeed running a 6 -10 yd crossing pattern, he cant be 20 yards downfield when the ball gets there. In both cases Roman is 20 yds from Will and I agree that is a bad route. Routes need to crisp and sharp and drifting the route is not going to cut it. On another note, this was Will's second game as a pro, lets not pretend he should be HOF sharp at this point in his progression. Also Allar who had the chance to shine last week against 3's and 4's rightfully took advantage of that situation, however this week he failed to put up any points as well. I think both QB's were under duress, but I think Will moved the ball better this week. Also lets also consider that this is also Drew's second game action as a pro as well. I would give them both C to C- grades for the week. The competition is strong for all 3 of the backups. Mason having the experience advantage. If rodgers werent here, i would have no issues with Mason/Will/Drew as our 3 QB's, therefore I vote to keep all 4 for this year and let next year truly determine the franchise's next QB of the future,

The offensive line is worse than last year. If this is what’s yet to come, Howard and Aller need to never be in there but the issue there is Rodgers won’t last 17 games anyways so everyone is screwed.

This is exactly why MM said the plays were not clean. QB and WR were both wrong. Some media types too quick to make excuses for Howard.

Howard is 75% at fault. He did not see the safety and the throw was off.

how he ran the routes were bad. howard also got the ball out late.

allar forced many into wrong places or nowhere near at times. same things he did in college.

both are a work in progress. i worried about both in game time situations. would they go back to what they did in college in the heat of game action which is moving faster than college. that is the part that will take them many reps to right what was wrong in their games. until it becomes second nature from practice i don't think either are where they need to be yet in franchise qb talk. long way to go, but the players around them have to do their jobs as well.

    • Allar didn't throw picks.
    • Howard - What good is moving the ball if you end up throwing picks in scoring position?
Neither one looks ready to replace Rudolph as QB2.

It's pre-season and they are trying various combinations so I am too worried but man they have got to settle in to something ASAP.

Clearly true. But I have seen a lot of good things from both. I like how they keep their eyes downfield, I like how they throw on the run, I like watching their helmet snap through their reads rather than fix on one guy, etc.

Someone school me here? If we trade Rudolph for whatever we can and AR goes down for a game or two, I would think the coaching staff could devise a game plan to limp through (game manage) those games till he came back, if he goes down for an extended period, it probably doesn't matter who comes in.
