    If damn it.
    If means If.
Dan Marino can never, and will never play for the Steelers, but I have to hear if all the time, but right now its impossible.
    If

I imagine his last go around for free agency wasnt seeking a starting job, of course he would have taken one but I think he was just looking for backup work. From what he said, he was ready to go sell insurance when the Steelers came calling.

No, Im trying to explain to you that he wasnt sought after as a BU in free agency so why would he be chosen off the PS.

So no, I dont agree, I think Howard would garner more attraction.

Maybe he used the same quote twice, but I specifically remember him saying that when we resigned him the extension that paid him $1MM for one year in 2023. That was the 1 year deal he signed at the minimum after looking around an no one else wanting him. If he was in that situation again when we resigned him after TEN, we wouldn't have (1) paid him more than the minimum or (2) given him a 2 year contract.

Then he signed a $2.9MM 1 year contract in TEN.

Then he signed a $7.5MM 2 year contract with us to be a backup.

It was the 1 year $1 MM contract where he was most at risk of leaving the league. IIRC, he joked about selling insurance at that point. But I wouldn't be surprised if he also made the joke again here. Because it's what athletes say.

He shouldn't need to work ever again (if he doesn't want to) after earning ~$15MM in the NFL. Although that still should have been true after earning ~ $5MM though his first 5 years.

Mason Rudolph entering his 9th year in the league has a record of 9-10-1 yet people are acting like the entire franchise will collapse if he isn't on team. Heck, Kenny Pickett was 15-10 here and nobody in their right mind wants him back.

It will be hard to keep 4 QBs the whole season that's a roster spot that could be used for another position, also you can't get reps for all 4 in practice.

    For me?! To be determined.

This upcoming game against New York will be very telling. Should Will Howard dominate in convincing fashion, Mason isn't going to be a Steeler for much longer. Should Will perform well enough but not superb, Pittsburgh is keeping all four.

Can go either way. Ball is in Will Howard's court. Fair or not, put up or shut up time for Will.

Glad to see that McCarthy is only playing Howard and Allar this week.

I think the Steelers take the easy way out and put Allar on IR.

    Exactly.

He’s valued by the Steelers. Or was by Mike Tomlin and the Steelers. We'll find out if McCarthy and the Steelers value him.

I'll be blown away surprised if they get rid of Howard. We know they're not getting rid of Allar.

So, I think they either get rid of Mason or keep 4.

Good. Both young guns will get a chance to show what they can do.If Allar plays well again and outshines Howard for a second time, McCarthy will have some interesting options. He could trade Rudy or Howard if a good deal comes along and hand the backup job to the other. The boldest play? Giving Allar a real shot at backup quarterback in 2026 provided he plays well in 2nd and 3rd pre-season games.

Excuse the hype, but Allar looked like a 1sr round pick in the last preseason game. If he does it again ...

Oh we are just talking about here.
    Well....
    Mason Rudolph: 8-5-1, 21tds, 13 ints, and 3395 yards
    Kenny Pickett: 14-10 13td, and 13 ints.
    Hmm:hmm:
Mason had 8 more tds in 10 less games. Yeah they are the same. LoL

So a guy the was left to be picked in the 6th round, and has no actual NFL experience, and a weak arm will garner more attention than a guy with actual NFL experience, a 3rd round pick, and a way stronger arm??
    Ok

Yeah,I agree that arm strength doesn't mean everything, still need to be average at least but don't need to have a rocket arm!

Pickett is awful and I take Rudolph over Kenny but it don't make Rudolph look good.He had also only 1 game under Matt Canada and he was awful in that game against the winless Lions
