Me too. I think this team is better than people are giving it credit for. I hope I'm right.

I just saw this. (Switched jobs last August, and now switching again this August. I don’t like making this an annual thing!)

YES, there will be a Pickem Contest this season. Give me a day or two to set it up.

Man people picking 11/12 wins with a 43 year old QB. Yikes.

So you are saying Tomlin could get us to 10 wins but McCarthy cant do a game or two better??

I’ve seen several Tomlin bashers who are saying our record will be worse. Make it make sense.

I havent landed on a number yet but I fully expect McCarthy to match or beat last seasons record. I mean what the heck have ya’ll been beating your chest wanting a coaching change if you think it doesn’t matter.

Key injuries aside, which can change everything, I've often thought that when you have a regime change like we've just had, it's just as possible to get worse for a season as it is to get better. With so many pieces changing, it wouldn't surprise me if we started out with some mistakes - especially if we're playing more aggressively - resulting in unexpected early season losses that are difficult to recover from. So, I do think it's possible to have better coaching, a better philosophy and initially a worse result.

I do expect to see the signs of improving units on both sides of the ball. That's what I'm looking for this season, even more than what the final W-L results are.
    • Is the offense attacking with a new strategy?
    • Are we using TE's and the middle of the field instead of playing not-to-lose?
    • Are we allowing Rodgers to use his best tool, his brain, changing plays to counter the looks he sees?
    • Are we honing skills for playoff football or just playing it safe?
    • Are we developing young QB talent?
    • Is the defense adjusting to counter the strength of the opponent? Or are we just "doing what we do"?

They can be improved and better it doesn't mean the wins will increase though, along with the second half of the schedule being hard.

Have You actually looked at our schedule??
This maybe the easiest schedule for a division winner by what the teams did last year, and that is the only way to look at them as of right now. Our opponents record overall last year was 143 - 146. We have the 14th easiest schedule in the NFL this year.

Oh trust me I’m happy MT is gone but two things here

    1. I’m excited about MM offensive mentality as a change but I’m far from sold on how good an overall coach he is. I know when he was first announced I was underwhelmed.

    2. AR is 43 years old and I don’t expect him to last the way he did last year. I know people are excited about our backup QBs looking good vs Bus Boys on Thursday but if either have to play meaningful snaps it would be ugly.

    That’s why I’m going 8 wins although 9 wouldn’t shock me. 11/12 I feel is insanity.

Its simple. If one HC that is considered sucks went 3 straight years of 10 wins with 3 different sets of QBs, including 2 Qbs that are still on the team, the next can't come in, and be considered a better HC, and automatically lose more games, especially with a way weaker schedule.
That's why I picked more wins than what we had last year.

This is possible to have a worst record this year (especially if ravens and bengals are better this year) but being better in the long run after that

If only things were that binary. I also mentioned I’m far from sold on MM. at least there is hope something MT robbed us from for over a decade.

The offense will certainly be better, McCarthy has fielded a good offense everywhere he’s been and I like everything I have heard about Graham and how he is preparing the defense.

So IMO the offense should out perform last year and the defense at worst should be a wash. All hinges on Rodgers and oline. He still has the arm talent and being in an offense he is very familiar with should produce good results. He just cant move like he used to so the line is going to have to perform at a high level.

O Line is the big X factor. They will have to be very good to give Rodgers time because he is completely immobile against any decent pass rush. I’m just not sure how I feel about that unit. TF looked awful at LT granted it’s preseason game 1. Besides Frazier lots of question marks.

They better stack wins early because like I said the schedule is tough in the second half.
