    I went with Howard
    Howard looked good last night
    But
IMO he is going to have to be lights out going forward
    Allar is MM draft pick
    3rd round at that

Howard is on the outside looking in. He looks like a rookie and Allar looks a lot further along.

Take a chance of getting Howard to the practice squad.

He is who we thought he is…..

I know he is a backup QB, but I have always liked to have a little confidence if the backup is called upon.

If Mason has to go into the game, I’m just not confident he is going to get it done.

What's the upside to any backup?
I could go through the whole list of NFL backups, and there is not a upside to any of them besides, they can actually win a few games in a real NFL game.

I prefer to trust the young QB that trust Rudolph.

Not sticking up or promoting Mason
    But
He does have valuable NFL experience
I definitely want us to find our franchise QB
Mason is definitely not that guy
    But
Once again 2 rookies don’t cancel out valuable experience esp after first preseason game against vanilla D and 3 and 4 string players

They have more upside and we would know more to what we have in the roster at this position for next season if Rodgers is out for a few games.....This is a risk but the reward could be big.We mustn't live in fear!

Im not promoting Mason either. Im promoting actual NFL experience. Hell they could drop him, and bring in a different actual NFL experienced guy, and Id be happy.
Its crazy because I expected more from Howard than Allar, and I got the exact opposite. I keep thinking about how weak Howard's arm looked compared to Mason, and Allar

No you hope they have more upside. You don't know they do. Hell Allar showed he has more upside physically, but Howard didn't. Howard actually showed he has a weaker arm than Mason, and I didn't expect that.

    Let’s pump the brakes
    Esp
    On Allar
Let’s see what he does against first stringers against different defensive looks
    Once again
I am elated how these 2 young qbs played last night

Still can’t get visions of how terrible Allar looked at PSU against good teams out of my head
    Deer in headlights
Hopefully this can be corrected by good coaching

This. Keep all 4 of them. We can do without an extra WR. We got plenty of good TEs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a crowded quarterback room with Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard, and rookie Drew Allar. While second-year pro Will Howard is widely considered the most likely candidate to be cut or placed on the practice squad, strong preseason performances have also sparked speculation that Pittsburgh might keep four quarterbacks. [1, 2, 3, 4]

    Current Quarterback Situation
    • Aaron Rodgers: Unquestioned starter.
    • Mason Rudolph: Experienced backup.
    • Drew Allar: Rookie third-round draft pick.
    • Will Howard: 2025 sixth-round pick and primary cut candidate, though stellar preseason play is making the final decision difficult

Don't forget McCarthy wants to win now. Not just next year. Coaches , and their families depend on winning. This is not a video game to them
