This is the same crap they said about KJ last season when he was lighting up camp fodder in shorts who couldn't tackle him because of rules not because anything he did. Really like the kid but he doesn't deserve what will eventually be fan hate because talking heads wanted clicks.

 

Do you have CMac's 10 yard split?

It seems like that's what the previous comment was about.

Could be that CMac gets to his top speed quicker, but Eli has a higher top speed.

If that were the case, it could be possible that CMac gets to 10 yards faster, but Eli has a higher top speed.

This was the case for former Canadian Olympic champ Donovan Bailey. He always really sucked out of the blocks. But his top speed was insane.

It's puff piece season.

And this kid has a nice backstory. So he's getting played up.

Hopefully he becomes the next CMac. But I won't be holding my breath.

 

In the 10-yard split their best times were:

CM: 1.52

Eli Heidenreich: 1.55

Difference = 0.03 seconds (three hundredths of a second — literally a blink of an eye).


My point to anyone claiming Eli “isn’t quick” is two-fold:

His listed time already says otherwise.

He’s basically even with CM on the workout numbers.

And if we’re going to use minicamp video/ film and compare him to the other players, Eli looks quicker than everyone out there on offense except Roman Wilson ... at least by my eye.

He played at Navy in a triple-option offense.

You don’t see that scheme in the NFL on 99.99% of the plays. It’s similar to big Al Villanueva (Army, who also ran the triple option). — Al V wasn’t drafted at all.

Who cares when or where he was drafted? He’s a Steeler now.Eli was there for the military first, football second.

At Annapolis ( Navy college ) , football is one of the easier parts of the day.

Why did he last until the 7th round?

This is only my opinion, but he might have a Navy commitment that made teams shy away.

 

Im not saying he will be good, but its hard to get drafted from Navy in today's game.

It's ridiculous to compare Eli to CMC who played in a Power 5 conference and was a Heisman Finalist, If Eli makes the 53 he will likely be gadget player and not a starting RB like CMC. It doesn't matter if they're similar in size and speed.

 

Will Porter Jr. do a hold in at training camp?

 

He most definitely has a Navy commitment but it is not a deterrent like it once was

Heidenreich explained his Naval Academy commitment, which he said won't interfere with him joining the Steelers. He said after his graduation on May 22 he is commissioned to the Reserves in the United States Marine Corps.

"All of my time and focus will be on football," said Heidenreich. "I won't have any military obligations to take me away from football. They may ask me to do some PR-related event in the offseason to shine a light on the Marine Corps, on the military, but that's all I'll have to do.

"Afterwards I'll have a choice to go back and serve in an active role, but as far as I'm concerned right now, I'm worried about being a Steeler."
