Like I said, the Steelers did a good job selling a story and quite a few folks here were suckered into believing it!

But I don't commentary articles like this from them. Seems like their model on the website for these types of articles is to churn out a bunch of stuff without too much effort. Sounds like we both read the article and came away with very different ideas of what it was saying.

Your interpretation makes the headline at least kind of make sense...

If he had stayed, worked hard, and played well he could have been on the receiving end of a decent second contract, here or somewhere. Instead he got a low paying 1 year gig. And he deserves it.

 

I heard on Facebook he begged every team but Carolina not to make him an offer.

Raiders traded for Kenny to be the backup after their backup QB had a season ending injury. Kenny haters: “Cleveland didn’t want him!!” Same fans will clown the clowns for being the clowns and having no idea how to evaluate QB’s.

Raiders fire the whole staff and draft first and get a QB. Kenny goes to the Panthers and somehow it’s another knock on him.

Meanwhile the people throwing dirt in his name predicted he wouldn’t even be in the league last year.

It’s a business. QB’s bounce around in the NFL. Especially now. Being a backup on the same team is no better than being a backup on a new team. Especially in today’s NFL.

I just noticed the Panthers at Steelers game December 26 or 27 is a TBD

I bet they are waiting to see if Kenny is the starting quarterback just in case they want it to be prime time

 

Nice spin. Now the actual story:

• Long before any trade with the Raiders, the Browns declined Pickett's option year. He wasn't in their long-term plans.
• Cleveland gladly took the trade to get a 5th round pick for a player that was injured all of the preseason, and likely wasn't even going to make the roster.
• Raiders got a good look at Pickett while he was there. Knew he wasn't a future franchise QB and did the obvious by drafting a QB.
• Pickett took what he could get, a backup salary with CAR.

In a league desperate for QBs it can take a while before a backup fades from view.

 

Lol. Kenny Pickett and HOF should never appear in the same sentence. Having said that, I don't agree with all the KFP hate. I put the blame squarely on the Steelers for drafting an early Day 3 draft talent in the first round and plunking him into that god awful offense. I also don't have an issue with him demanding a trade after the team gave him a big vote of no confidence by benching him after injury and signing his starter replacement in the offseason. Sometimes the situation sucks enough that you just have to go. He may regret it later in life, but I doubt he does now since he is still in the league. KFP's sin was he was drafted way too early. I think he will be in the league for a number of years bouncing around as a backup, which is his skill level. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

 

His story is not unlike Trubisky's. Way overdrafted by a team desperate for a franchise QB.

 

No one said anything about HOF but that is the type of hyperbole needed by some folks who can’t admit that Kenny is still in the league when they predicted he would be gone by now.

I didn’t like the pick but wished nothing but best when for him when he was here.

When you are 23 or 24 in college playing against 18 and 19 olders your numbers get get skewed.

Not a power house conference either.

Raiders aren’t far behind the Browns but again, they fired the whole staff. Need I remind you who our DC is this year and why he was available?



The next time the Browns find a QB and actually make the right move will be the first time since Kozar

and Carolina didn’t have to grab Kenny but the point is they DID grab him. This is the same franchise who had Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield at the same time and moved on from both of them 3 years ago.

and no, I’m not saying he will bounce back like they did because I know that is the lazy response KP haters will use. The point is Kenny still has a helmet and all the “begging and running” digs yall make won’t change the fact that he isn’t selling insurance like some haters predicted.

 

ACC has 6 or 7 QB’s starting in the NFL.

Why aren't you mentioning the Eagles here, a team that recently won a Super Bowl, so clearly they are a good team with a good offensive-minded coach who knows something about QB's and yet who didn't see fit to keep the mighty Kenny Pickett on their roster?
