Put your homer glasses on, wave your terrible towel, and read this article.

    Here's just a piece:
On back-to-back plays in the second quarter, Roethlisberger hit Jerricho Cotchery for 21 yards, Emmanuel Sanders for 24. Brown had a 25-yard catch nullified by penalty. Sanders nearly had a 34-yard touchdown but juggled it on the way down. The wonderful rookie Markus Wheaton rightly made it into Roethlisberger's huddle, too, and took in a 12-yarder.

There were some positives in that game last night. The oline did a pretty good job of keeping Ben clean and the chiefs can get after a qb.

While it was nice to see a vertical aspect to the offensive, there were still a lot of negatives.

    ???

In one half he was sacked twice, hit a few times, and pressured a few more. Have our standards gotten so low that is now considered keeping the qb clean?

I think Ben gets credit for keeping Ben clean

There were positives. There was a bit more fire from everyone. Better execution in general. I think Gradkowski looks good at no. 2.

In fact, I kept getting surprised by the box score because it felt like we were winning.

I think Mrs. Roethlisberger deserves some credit for that too.

When we start putting losses into perspective, that means we're...losing.

Didn't it used to be about winning?

Oh, I forgot. It's only the preseason.

The first team offense did show some positive things last night, but the fact is we had the Chiefs down and could not make the plays to put them away. We allowed them back into the game when our first teamers were still out there and wound up losing the game. That just reminds me too much of last year to make me comfortable going into the season.

All I can say is we played better than we played last week. But that wasn't hard to do. Some individuals had good games. But our problems are still there. Can't protect Ben and can't score touchdowns and can't stop the penalties.

The worrisome and troublesome part is that if someone were to tell you to watch the games so far this preseason and didn't tell you when and what year the game was taking place, you wouldn't be able to tell if the game was this year, last year or the previous few seasons. Now for a team coming off a player proclaimed dissapointing season you would and should expect a better performance thus far, preseason or not. Yes there have been positives but the penalties and mistakes have outweighed the good by a healthy margin. The self inflicted wounds are what is holding this team back and the problem is we keep repeating the same mistakes. Old habits are hard to break. I think we need a hellified intervention. I'm holding out hope albeit faint that we can turn this around.

To those who read it, the article basically said Ben is back. The Ben we saw after he returned from the injury was not to the caliber of our franchise QB. Had he returned to that level last year, beat Cincinnati and who knows what might have happened.

Com'on Mac. Tell us how you really feel.
I liked what I saw out of the 1's but still get scared when Ben dances around back there. The good thing is we have a backup qb who I feel a lot better than Leftwich. I still say if Tomlin pulls lefty who couldn't breath and puts Batch in we win the game, Was that the other rat game?

Now take your post and put it in front of this statement
I am going to be in DC Thursday and guess who plays the same time as us?

    78 we were 14-2 then 3-0

According to FootballGeography.com we've been winless in the preseason five times, and it hasn't worked out too well any of those years.

LOL, come on Jack, 3 of those decades we sucked ass, 80's were no picnic either and 2006 we came off a SB, had more to do with a hangover then our preseason record. PRESEASON MEANS NOTHING!

Hey, don't shoot the messenger, BF. I'm just giving you the raw stats which say that TEAMS THAT GO WINLESS IN THE PRESEASON DON'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

You sure about that site Jack? How were we 8-7 with no tie in 1987? Was that a strike year? We lose a game? I really don't know

Edit: Yep only 15 games counted that year

It looks like we were 3-1 and 2-2 respectively in the 1978 and 1979 preseasons, both Super Bowl winning years. Wasn't able to find our preseason records for 1974 and 1975, also Super Bowl winning years.
