Sure hope Skenes has his good stuff tonight.

 

He sure can toss mucho pitches in 5 innings. He needs an efficiency whisperer.

 

I was thinking that and said it at the beginning of this thread. I remember when Braves used Smoltz that way off an arm injury and it worked out great.

43-44 on July 2nd. Should they lose this afternoon they will fall 2 games under. I don't think we have been 2 under since the first two games of the season.

Not so fast - possibly a series split - up 5-1 in top of 8th. Can Mlod hold them? He and Jones have pitched very well so far, even in the 98 degree weather you guys are having. We get that all the time, "but it's a dry heat". LOL. Fingers crossed etc.

 

Well - raise it! W 6-1 with great offense (14 hits) and very good pitching - 4 hits and 1 run. Mlod gets the W and even Soto and Montgomery were lights out with Monty striking out the side in the 9th. A split series on the road against the dreadful Phillies who have been one of the hottest teams recently and were only 2.5 games back of the Braves before today. They only outscored the Bucs by 3 runs in the 4 games, 26-23. We head to DC where the Redskins....err Nats are pretty bad at home. Come on fellas.

 

I'll be damned. The BP came through and we actually split with the Phillies. Best part for me was wife's family members attended game 1 and golf buddies went up today.

Now we head to beautiful DC area (so damn congested, a drivers nightmare) to play the Nationals. Then home for those damn Braves and Brewers.

2-2 the final 13 before break. Can the kids be .500 at the ASB??? Stay tuned. Same Buc channel. Different Buc times.

 

I am starting to have an awful feeling about Skenes. I don't think he is hurt or anything like that..I'm starting to think he is doing badly on purpose..So the Pirates will trade him ..So he can go to a winning team. Think about it.am I right or wrong.It is a reason possibly.

Definitely having a hard time right now. I don't know if it's fatigue or not, but he's down a little over 1mph on his fastball.
Just wondering here, does he have too many pitches he's trying to throw? I believe I read that he has like 6 or 7 different pitches (some are variants of his fastball).
Maybe just limit the types of pitches he's using until he gets back on track. Also, I would assume they are studying video of him to find mechanical flaws.

I've never heard or read anything that he's not approachable, so I don't think it's ego-driven stubbornness or anything like that.

 

It started at 8:05 am out west. Very weird. Ashcraft back to his great form following first pitch homer. BP did their part. 10:05 am tomorrow on Peacock. At least the Cubs and Cards get to beat up each other this weekend. The friggin Brewfarts are insane.
