Thought him staying down looked bad as he fell on the ball. when they started looking at chest I was thinking cracked rib or the same thing Ben had last year. Going to suck he was developing a good sense for the defense.

Precautionary with an IV bag doesn't sound good at all or very precautionary!

This completely sucks! I still don't get why he was still in the game. It's obvious he was going to play a big part this season, so why risk injury playing in a preseason game vs. the scrubs. This one is on Tomlin! Hope he is ok.

Same reason all the other starters and 2's were in the game so long...its their big/last/main "dress rehearsal" for the season...next week they won't play much if at all. Its typical of the 3rd preseason game...as been for ages it seems. Crap happens...not Tomlin's fault.

All of the other starters were out of the game when he got hurt, he was the only one left. He got plenty of reps in the first half. He shouldn't have been in there.

Are you saying he is a starter?

While a lot of them were...Jones is not officially a starter...he is technically #2 and a rookie...so he will be getting more playing time...just like the other 2's did. It was a freak accident...he landed on the football...that could happen at ANY time..stop blaming the coach/etc for a freak happening...jeeez.

Yes, Jones is the starter. It doesn't matter what they report on their depth chart now, its pretty clear he is much better than Worilds and probably one of the better play makers on our defense. They pulled that same crap with Pouncey and he ended up making he pro bowl that season.

So when he is left in the game well after all the other starters it makes no sense. He looked good when in there so what does he need to prove by being in there so long. Why risk it? Sure it was a freak accident, but if he pulled him with the starters we aren't having this conversation and he is healthy.

This is the same as having Antonio Brown return punts tonight. There was no reason for it. It is just putting him in more risk.

Its strange that a lot of young guys are getting hurt and our veterans like Ben and Troy haven't had anything serious happen to them.....yet.

If it was any injury at all I would bet it is the sternum or spleen. Just my opinion, but it happens a lot when players fall on the ball. I've seen it several times.

No one should ever have to play, that way no one gets hurt.

Then fire me for being to tough on the players and coaches.

If I ever make coach I'm unleashing Hell on this message board.

Glenn just sealed his brief coaching future!

Also, being exiled to Northeast Ohio, I endured a lot of coverage about Barkevious Mingo's bruised lung. It was a non-contact injury. He spent a few days in the Cleveland Clinic and had lots of tests. I'm sure the Steelers were using utmost caution. The future is bright on the defensive side of the ball.

JJ is a rookie, and keeping him in the game to get experience is exactly what any coach would do, the cards had their 1st round rookie guard Cooper still in their game late against the chargers and he got his left leg broke and is out for the season, don't go blaming coaches for injuries because they keep a player in a game, because all 32 head coaches do the exact same thing....

I don't fault Tomlin for leaving Jones in the game; he needs experience. It wasn't a Rex Ryan 'leave the starting QB in with the 3rd string and watch him get hurt' type of thing.

He left the hospital earlier, and the team says that "tests were negative". Not sure what he was tested for exactly, but definitely happy to hear some positive news for him.

    I haven't since last night.

According to PFT, the team believes it's a bruised "sternum or chest".
